“Comfortable but expensive”
Reviewed 6 May 2011

Nice enough, above-average workout facility, convenient location but very expensive. There are better values in the area.

This hotel is great! I was greeted by name everywhere I went. The Hotel concierge, Cheryl was amazing! She really helped us have a great anniversary! I see reviews saying the hotel was pricey but if you get a package its well worth it! We got the spa package, Couples Massage, late check out and breakfast all included! The spa was great and super friendly the breakfast buffet was great and we had a room on the 14th floor overlooking the water way! This was a great anniversary stay and we will be back!

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor

We have now stayed here twice and I cant wait to go back again. The hotel is expensive but worth every penny. The rooms are what you would expect from a high end hotel. The first time we were in a standard King room which was smaller, but this time we were upgraded to an executive King and the room was huge. Both times we have been lucky enough to get a room overlooking the waterway and it is worth asking for this on check in.
The beds are extremely comfortable and we have never had a problem with the plumbing or the A/C as reported by other guests. The staff are very helpful.
The bar is often very quite at night, unless there is a convention on, but as I am often here for a while on my own, as my husband is working, I dont have a problem with that. They have a lovely patio connected to the bar which overlooks the waterway and has a fireplace for those cooler evenings.
The Tuscany restaurant serves a great buffet breakfast or you can get Starbucks coffee and pastries from the bar. Dinner is good at the hotel but there are a load of other options within walking distance so you dont have to eat here every night.
The spa is newly renovated and the staff in there are truely fabulous. The pool area is private but the pool is not heated so I wasnt able to use it this time.
One of the best things about this hotel is its location, with cinemas, restaurants, bars shopping and attractions all very close by. There is a free trolley bus which runs from 11AM every day from right behind the hotel and takes you to the malls and shopping areas.
I LOVE this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the waterway

Hotel was in pretty good condition and service was ok. For the price we paid I would expect a lot more. Breakfast service was pretty slow but the valet staff was helpful and courteous. The room was pretty typical for a Marriott and the bed was comfortable. Again, the stay was ok but for the price they charge I would expect to be Wowed.

For dinner or drinks check out Jasper's in Market Street. Great food and service. Have to try the blue cheese potato chips.

Room Tip: Don't pay over $200

I live in the Houston area and booked this hotel for its proximity to places I really enjoy. The Waterway area is pedestrian friendly, so we parked the car in the garage and walked everywhere for our stay. There are bars, restaurants, a movie theater, mall, and concert venue within walking distance.

I booked a spa/hotel stay package which included breakfast. Our couple's massage was an incredibly relaxing experience. The spa staff was spectacular and the breakfast buffet was more than filling. We had a king sized corner room on the 9th floor. The view wasn't much, but the room was clean and very comfortbale.

If you are looking for a relaxing break in area where there is plenty to do without having to get in the car and drive, this is certainly the place. I highly recommend this hotel and plan to stay here again.

A clean, contemporary midline hotel located right on the waterway/canal in the Woodlands. A great alternative if you find Houston a little much and won't be venturing too far into the city.

Rooms felt new and clean. Not a luxury hotel, but definitely at the higher end of what I've seen from Marriott. I felt comfortable walking around barefoot in our room, which is saying something. Great views of the canal can be had in some rooms. Big flat screen TV. No in-room safe though.

Beds were comfy, but felt a bit smaller than the usual 2 queens arrangement you see most places. If you like a cold room at night you may be disappointed--our A/C never quite rose to the occasion, despite very mild temps outside. Add to that the group of screaming drunk people running down the hallway pounding on doors very late Saturday night, and the sleep quality was not the best feature of the hotel.

Big points off too for toilets that literally appeared to take a full minute to flush, with water swirling the entire time. This was not a "jiggle the handle" situation, but something we observed in 2 different rooms. The impression was of senseless water waste in a state that just got out of its worst drought since the Fifties.

Our boy had a blast riding the water taxi and trolleys that stop a short walk from the hotel. Easy walk to lots of restaurants and shops, as well as the nearby concert venue (Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavillion?).

The price was not the cheapest you'll find, but overall a nice option for business or leisure travel in the Woodlands/North Houston area.
