When the potato chips are the best item on your plate, you know you're in trouble.
I was at Jason's yesterday with my wife and grandson at his behest.. We had been disappointed on a previous visit, but this was even worse. Well, he liked the mac and cheese and then it went downhill. My wife and I each chose the soup and sandwich. I had gumbo and a tuna melt. The sandwich bread was done so lightly that is seemed more like stale bread than toast and wasn't hot enough to melt the cheese. The tuna was a large scoop just dumped in, quantity apparently trumping quality. The gumbo lacked character, chicken or sausage, but did have a few overcooked shrimp. The rice was a glutinous mass rather than individual grains, in fact, I first thought that it was globs of roux not integrated into the stock. My wife pronounced her panini passable, but her roasted tomato soup was so overwhelmed by cumin as to be inedible by either of us.
Not even a grandson's begging will ever get us back here.
