Will definitely go again. We attended a wedding there. The entire event was handled by the staff onsite. From the rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, wedding, accommodations for all the guests etc. it was under one roof. Fabulous.

The rooms smelled old, and yes bed was comfroable but way out to date..I think its time to update everything.. When you come to get away you want to get away your website totally defaulted when i got there, very disapointed for 200.00 wish i wouldve stayed at marriot the rooms were so much nicer there and smelled so clean. my husband stayed here a year ago thats why we choose to stay here and he said they should've put us on the new side, so make sure you get that side.. but bed was wonderful..

We stayed at the Woodlands resort in June of 2010. We originally booked a basic suite.... when we got to our room we realized we made a mistake the room was old and it was a long ways from the forest pool. We then upgraded to a room on the pool area ($30 more).... totally worth every penny. New resort area - right overlooking the pool. The pool was great - they had face painting & balloon artists & in pool family movie (ALL FREE ) for the kids.... My kids loved it (and we did too - when the kids are happy everyone is happy) . They also have a FREE shuttle that will take you to local resurants and then pick you back up whenever you tell them too.....GREAT :)
I would totally go to the WOODLANDS RESORT again and recommend it to my family and friends.
(The only down side was the food at the pool was a little pricy and you can't bring your own to the pool area).

I read some of the other reviews before going to The Woodlands Resort, and they had me a little worried. I always take online reviews with a grain of salt, but I'm usually reading reviews of hotels in the Caribbean, and hold US hotels to a US standard.

Let me just say that I didn't find any of the negative comments true.

We stayed in the Fairway Pines section of the resort. We had friends staying in the other section, whatever it was called, and they did not like the area or their rooms, so I would say, stick to Fairway Pines.

All my reviews are based around, cleanliness of the room, value, and service. The room was spotless, and was updated, with a flatscreen LCD tv, an extremely comfortable king sized bed, a desk and desk chair, a leather reading chair and a balcony with a table and balcony with chairs which overlooked the golf course.

In terms of value, I think the resort was expensive. Rates change all the time, but to pay a couple of hundred dollars a night for what was a standard/smallish hotel room, and a large pool, was steep. The food at the poolside bar was fairly reasonably priced, and always served HOT. Beers, whether in the lobby bar or by the pool were expensive. Ask for a mini fridge in your room and go buy your own from one of the local grocery stores around.

Service was excellent. Everyone greeted you. Everyone was nice. No issues there.

The lobby bar was a fun place to hang out. The restaurant which overlooked the lake had an awesome breakfast buffet. We booked a package which included the breakfast buffet each morning, and it was worth it.

Let me just address some of the negative comments people had which I found to not be true. Parking, there is a huge parking lot right by the Fairway Pines building. And a massive one by the lobby and the other hotel building. There were two big weddings on the Saturday we were there, and the parking lot by our building had plenty of spots in it.

Also, our room was not musty, it smelled fine.

The buildings were quite. There were kids by the pool, but it was October, and despite the nice weather, the pool was practically empty.

Overall we found the resort to be a very nice place. Everything was well maintained, and I would recommend the hotel to anyone not concerned with price.

Booked online to include golf at Panther Trail. Had 1021 tee time.
Left credit card with wife so she could have breakfast and check out.
Tried to check in at proshop and I indicated that I had pre-paid with =
this booking.
Basically, phone calls were made and I felt I was being called a liar by =
pro-shop personnel and whoever he was talking to at the hotel.
Apparently, I had not prepaid, as indicated on my booking confirmation.
Did not play, hopefully not charged, per booking......You have lost me =
as a customer. Will be back for weekend of 15-17 Oct 10, Have Booked Waterway Marriott.!

We stayed at The Woodlands Resort in order to attend a concert at the The Woodlands Pavillion. The resort offered a shuttle to the concert for a nominal fee. It was very easy to use, and I recommend that you use it. The children really enjoyed the pool, particularly the water slide. The grounds are beautiful. The room was not luxurious, but it was nice and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was delicious. The drinks at the bar are expensive and small. The resort is an oasis from Houston. If you have any reason to stay slightly north of Houston, I recommend that you stay at The Woodlands Resort.

It is a beautiful place... The rooms are nice and the pool area is fantastic. But the parking situation is horrendous. There weren't any parking places near the Fairway Pines rooms. Paying over $200.00 a night for a room, I expect to be able to park somewhat close to where my room is. Of course they have the golf carts to "cart" people back and forth from the main building - but their REAL loyalty is the golfers that are probably paying a pretty penny to play golf at the golf course - rather than the guests of the resort.
They don't offer luggage carts, either - so we had to make several trips to our car, to unload our luggage and reload when heading back home.
Not worth the price, in my opinion.
