Description: Les and Carol Ellsworth opened The Potpourri House in September 1982 as a tea room in a yellow 1904 Victorian home on Front Street in Tyler. The Ellsworths made many trips to Europe to furnish the new restaurant - and every piece of furniture could be purchased by customers, including their table and chairs! Several years later, The Potpourri House moved to the Off Broadway Shopping Center and incorporated a Victorian-themed garden, with a Women's Boutique and Gift Shop. Our current 16,000 square foot location at 3320 Troup Highway has been the home of Potpourri since 1998 and continues the tradition of being Tyler's most unique shopping and dining experiences. The Potpourri House is the perfect event venue for your business meeting, seminar, fundraiser, luncheon, family reunion, wedding, wedding reception, rehearsal dinner, bridal shower, baby shower, award ceremony, birthday party, anniversary party, Christmas party, graduation party - whatever the occasion! Let us cater an event at your location for up to 800 people. The Ellsworth family still owns and operates the Potpourri House over 30 years later and believes in supporting family relationships. We seek to instill our values into the business at every level, including being closed on Sundays and major holidays to allow our staff to enjoy time with their own families. Whether you come to dine, shop or celebrate, the Potpourri experience is like none other in East Texas!

“Great Place to visit!”
Reviewed 22 November 2013

I didn't expect much from the outside, but was very pleasantly pleased! We went for lunch and the soup/salad bar was terrific. The only complaint was I wasn't sure what each salad was....but they were all yummy! The we had chicken fired chicken, it had a light batter and was also delish! Our waiter Anthony was a source of knowledge about Tyler...and very competent. I highly recommend this place. As a gift shop owner, the gift shop was average...no great shakes, but the food..and the concept...terrific!

“Nice idea,”
Reviewed 22 November 2013

Had lunch there with a friend on our way through town. A great ladies' luncheon spot and venue. We had the soup, salad and baked potato bar, and it was good. The lettuce could have been a bit fresher, and I would have appreciated not seeing them reload the salad bar with giant tubs of pre-wrapped packages of sour cream, cheese, etc. the "croutons" were awesome, obviously homemade - they were actually whole and large pieces of bread of various types that had been baked dry and crunchy.

We saw some desserts go by on their way to other tables, and they looked yummy!

The service was very good and the waitstaff friendly.

The dining area is surrounded with a multitude of individually run shops (all under one roof) selling clothes, jewelry and decorative items. It was fun!

“I love this place!”
Reviewed 8 August 2013

When I go to Tyler to visit my daughter, this is our place! I love their food! I love the atmosphere. Sometimes they have live music, too. Their menu is perfection. From steaks to seafood. Even soups and salads are a culinary celebration. They have a good wine menu, too. Save room for desert! We usually all order something different and share so we don't miss anything. It's the perfect place for a celebration dinner (like when my daughter graduated from Nursing school)..or after church. Or just when you want a nice meal, with people you love. (Ladies..they also have some of the best shopping in town!!). I can't go to Tyler without dining at Potpourri house! And you shouldn't either.
