Animals are either sickly or annoyed. Barely covers any grounds. Pathetic!

“Small Zoo with a Big Heart”
Reviewed 13 February 2012

The Texas Zoo has been through some changes over the 14 1/2 years that I have lived in the Victoria area. It did indeed house animals from Texas when I moved here. There was a tragic 100 year flood that forever changed our Zoo, but most changes have been for the better. The Zoo is small, and that has it's charm. Children don't get over tired and those who cannot walk far can enjoy this zoo. There are lions, a tiger, baboons, birds, and a petting zoo area. The Texas Zoo also host many community functions such as the recent Native American History Day. There is the upcoming Valentine's Day activities at the Zoo where you can bring your favorite animal a Valentine. The Zoo is clean and the animals well cared for by staff. For a town of less than 100,000 poputation, this Zoo offers the community and our visitors a memory. Not because it's big, but because it's small and special. Cost is low and fun can be high.

“Better zoo than I expected”
Reviewed 16 November 2011

My wife and I like zoos and visit them whenever we can. You can't expect a town the size of Victoria to have a zoo equal to cities such as Houston and San Antonio. However, we were pleasantly surprised when we visited this small zoo. The large animals that are contained there are lions, tigers, and a tapir. The place also houses wolves, coyotes, and alligators as well as smaller animals such as badgers, bobcats, and ocelots. It has a collection of snakes in an inside exhibit which includes a Burmese Python. In addition, the zoo contains iguanas as well as a selection of birds such as owls, hawks, and colorful parrots. There are several small primates and an exhibition in a railroad caboose. We arrived just in time to see one of the employees feeding some small alligators. It was a great way to spend an hour or so.

“Great zoo!”
Reviewed 25 July 2011

Although it is small, the staff is friendly and it is clean and the animals are well cared for. The kids enjoyed being up close to the animals and I liked it for a value (kids are $4!) so you can't beat it!
