We had a four rooms with families staying for a funeral about a week ago. They had the best rates in town and offered the military discount when neighboring hotels did not due to Spring Break. The rooms were clean. The beds were very comfortable, in fact my husband wants the same pillows now. The breakfast from 6-9 was loaded. The breakfast sandwiches they made were awesome. Went back for seconds on that one. The aunts enjoyed the waffle maker and boiled eggs. Martha was more than helpful in checking our room for my son's ipod and headphones that he left on the bed. She obtained them and mailed them back to us in perfect condition. Close call that they didn't end up in the wash. We will definitly stay here again.

Room Tip: Gave average to Kids activities and restraunt because like most hotels, they do not have one. But plenty of place to eat just down the street including Olive Garden.

Hi,

Just wanted to tell you we appreciate the great review. We have changed to The Baymont Inn & Suites since you last stayed here, but most of what you liked about the hotel has stayed the same.

We hope you do end up coming back, if ever you're in Victoria again!

Thank you,
Mike

The Hotel Western is a relatively new, renovated hotel. The amentities were terrific (microwave and minifridge in the rooms), the hotel staff was pleasant, and the breakfast spread (milk, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, juice, oatmeal, dry cereal, pastries, crossaint sandwiches, omlet-like things, etc)was adequate. The hotel has opted for the green method of using dispensers for shampoo, body wash, lotion, and hand soap. they do not have conditioner in the rooms. The hair dryer is a pretty good one. One of my favorite things was these rooms had ceiling lights! they were on the perimeter of the room, but it made such a difference! They also have onsite laundry facilities and a 'business center' for printing.

Victoria seems to attract oil workers and thus, the hospitality industry is taking advantage of this. The rates are outrageous for the small town this hotel is set in. If you are in town on business though, you dont have many other quality choices. this place was cheaper than the Hilton, Choice, and IC Hotel properties.

the only negative feedback i have is that the front desk attendant were rarely visible. They must have been congregating in a back room, but i didnt think this gave a welcoming feeling.

There is a mall nearby, some chain and local resturants, a short drive to the bay, and great Texas hospitality. If you're looking for a nice place to stay, support the local economy and stay here!

Hi there,

Just wanted to say thank you for the review. I know it's taken a while for anyone to respond, but we are under new management and ownership since you stayed, and are re-named the Baymont Inn & Suites.

Definitely an astute observation concerning the type of business this town attracts. I hope you come back one day and give us a try. We are still very competitively priced, and have a great hot breakfast (omelet things, included:)

Thank you again,
Mike
