“Good value, good night's sleep”
Reviewed 8 July 2014

We’ve stayed at this property on several occasions, and choose it because of its consistency. Once again we were not disappointed.

As usual, our room was spacious, very clean, and the bed quite comfortable. Even though our room was on the street side with lights in front, the blackout curtain worked well and the room was sufficiently dark for sleep.

We are very familiar with Holiday Inn Express breakfast standards, and as a whole this one did a good job – except for the traditional gravy. The gravy was very watery, so I’m sure it was just a miscalculation on the measurement of the water. The other options were sufficient enough to ensure that we didn’t go away hungry. But, as with any Holiday inn Express, we don’t stay there for the breakfast. We stay there because it’s a good value and a good night’s sleep.

We’ll be back.

This is an updated version of the HIE chain of hotels. Everything appears to be new or almost new. The staff was friendly and the rooms were clean quiet and comfortable. Great location to the major highways. The breakfast was good and the selection better than average.

Wow, the priciest HIE on our trip and the most disappointing. The property itself is nice, newer and large with a nice entry way, large parking lot and upgraded facilities. We arrived late (after 9 pm) for our one night stay and were greeted by extremely friendly and efficient check-in clerks and had no issues until we got to our room and found the TV picture didn't work. My husband promptly returned downstairs and the woman that helped us check in said they knew there were issues but the hotel was full so we couldn't change rooms but it was a problem she could probably fix. She came back up to our room with him and after several minutes of fiddling with the back of the TV with the picture flickering on and off she was finally able to get it to stay on. Great, things happen, this wasn't the end of the world and I'd probably give them a 4 at this point. Then we tried to connect our laptops and neither of us could get on any of the listed networks. My husband works in IT, we aren't novices at IT, there is a major issue with your system. After 20 minutes of fiddling around we finally got one computer connected. The connection was so slow it was like using a 90's dial up system. Ridiculous. You have many of the same complaints last year that you claimed in your responses you would fix. There is no excuse for this in 2014. The reason we stay at HIE is because you can always expect a few things - comfortable bedding, a large flat screen and internet connection. After all this late night aggravation we attempted to set the remote Sleep option and that also didn't work. At that point I started seeing everything wrong with this property - our bathroom door didn't latch shut without extra effort, dust in the corners and on the fake plants in the entry way, the super slow unresponsive small single elevator for the property. Too bad, the staff is extremely nice, they also have a standard full HIE breakfast that is replenished often. We paid $30 more than the other HIEs we stayed at in TX and this one was by far the worst. The only HIE we've stayed at that has completely failed at technology. If the Internet isn't something you use and you don't care about a TV picture or remote sleep function this hotel is clean but over priced. We plan to skip it next time we are in the area.

We love Holiday Inn Express!! We stayed here going to and coming back home from our road trip. The breakfast was great and overall the hotel was very clean. The staff was very nice. The 2nd time we stayed there (coming home), they gave us the lower price we paid a week before going on our trip. That was super amazing and nice of them to do. The view is great with a lake. A bonus is having a Sonic restaurant in walking distance!

In town for grandson's graduation, spent two night here. Rooms clean, comfortable, staff pleasant, breakfast good and filling. Outdoor pool and spa, very windy and hot,but that's Texas. Hotel is off the beaten path and a bit difficult to find if you are not familiar with the area.

In town to visit Sheppard AFB, we found this hotel fits our needs just fine. I don't know when it was built but it seemed fairly new inside and out. Rooms were clean and well appointed, and the breakfast was standard fare for this hotel chain.

The only thing that struck us as odd was that we booked a "suite". Our definition of suite and their definition of suite was, for the first time, different. We were used to a suite being something that afforded a bed in a different space with a separate door but that is not the case here. We were told this hotel does not have suites like that, they referred to our expectation as a "one bedroom suite". Maybe this is the way of the future, I am not sure. We took the room we got and it was not the end of the world, but we will be sure to clarify further going forward.

Otherwise, we would recommend the hotel certainly and would consider staying again if a standard type room meets our needs.

My wife and I were on our way home from the west coast and had booked this hotel a few weeks in advance of our stay. When we arrived we had been driving for a good while and were very tired. It was an easy check in, which went flawless. The room was very nice, clean and quiet. We needed all of the above for a good nights rest. The hotel looked to be fairly new and was quite a surprise. I would recommend staying here without a problem. We departed too early in the morning to give you a rundown on the breakfast.
