Blue Mountain RV Park

This park is big rig friendly and a great location for visiting the National parks and Monuments. A gravel road loops around the park to level gravel pads with a small cement walk outside your door. There are 6 full hookup 50amp pull thrus on the upper level that have grass, small trees, picnic tables and BBQ grills. The lower level has 8 full hookup pull thrus that are just gravel with no trees, picnic tables or grills. All pull thru sites are long with room for slides and awnings. Rigs are parked where you share side by side utilities so to get a great view and sunset you will want to point your windshield west. There are lots of back in sites for smaller rigs and tents. This is a basic campground with free WIFI, clean bathroom, showers and laundry. It does sit right on highway 191 so there is road noise during the day but at night there is very little to no traffic so it does get very quiet. Sprint phone and 3G does not work in this area.

I have stayed at the Blue Mountain RV Park several times and it is a nice place to stay, run by nice people. The restroom and laundry facilities are kept clean and neat. The campground, which has a grassy area for tenters, is about 100 miles south of Moab. It is a good location if you want to explore Butler Wash, Comb Ridge, Comb Wash, Cedar Mesa and other areas. In addition, the campground includes a trading post and even if you're not interested in buying anything you can spend quite a while looking at the Indian artwork. Two thumbs up.

We stayed here 4 nights and visited hovenweep, valley of the gods, moki dugout, monument valley, needles section of canyonlands, and did a drive over the abajo mountains. Gary is great for ideas! Some sites do not have picnic tables so ask for one or if you want a grass site. It is near the highway but you dont hear it. You can also drive north to arches and canyonlands from here

About 45 sites at least that is what the numbering system shows. The sites are gravel and most are nice and level. Gravel with each a concrete patio. Very well maintained! Not much lighting but that is one of the beautiful things about this area. Not much light pollution and so star gazing is great. The restrooms are simple but really clean and good shower water pressure. Took a little getting used to the curtains for stall doors but works. The park is located just south of Blanding on Hwy 191 which is not a very busy or large truck thoroughfare so noise is not a problem. If you like a morning walk there is a large farm behind the park which has a few paths and roads you can use. The owners are very nice and obliging. They run the RV park from the trading post on site. It is one of the best collections of quality indian jewelry I have seen and some really great pieces of dinosaur bones and petrified wood. Gary sort of maintains the RV park and is a wealth of information about the ruins and surrounding area. He also makes knives and are really nice. We came to ride our motorcycles and hike. We discovered so much to see and do that we have extended our stay to a month. Great park, great value. We stayed in April in a truck camper pulling a 22' cargo trailer. Blanding is not much of a tourist town but has all the basics (at slightly higher prices). It does not have the tourist traffic or crowds which is nice. It is centrally located to a lot of hikes and sites which makes it a great base camp for us. We will come back.

Very big rig friendly park and excellently maintained. Nice level, gravel sites, each with a concrete sidewalk and some sites, like the one we were on, have a nice patch of lawn and a tree. Very welcome touch in the desert. Bathrooms are simple, but spotless and spacious. 2 washers ($1.50) and 2 dryers ($1) on site, also very clean. No cable TV, but all network TV stations available via antenna when pointed towards the mountain. Even though the park is right on Hwy 191, it's pretty quiet here, traffic is light. WIFI was acceptable, but has some room for improvement. My Mac kept getting disconnected, but my husband's PC worked fine. Blanding is a great location to explore south east Utah, There's so much to see within a day trip from here we extended our 1 week stay in May, to 2 weeks. We went to Natural Bridges National Monument, Hovenweep National Monument, Mesa Verde National Park, Canyonlands National Park (south entrance) and some other lesser known local hikes and attractions. The host here is a wealth of knowledge about the area and happy to share that with guests. We'd come back if we're ever in the area again.

A few tips about the area - Blanding is a dry town so if you want any alcohol, bring it with you or be prepared to pick it up when you're out on a day trip. One other thing we noticed while we were out sightseeing...the price of diesel gas at the Mobil station in the White Mesa Travel centre (about 10 minutes south of Blanding) was significantly cheaper than anywhere else around. At $3.74/gallon on May 26 it was at least 25 cents cheaper than most other gas stations and in some cases, 50 cents cheaper. Not sure if this is typical or not but we sure appreciated the savings while we were in the area.

This is a very small RV Park on US 191 (Main St) to the south of Blanding. It's run by the same friendly, helpful couple who's owned the little trading post on site for 40 years. (This little store has high quality, carefully-picked jewelry, art & nature's wonders such as petrified wood, bones etc.)

The RV sites are level, all very clean & cared for ~ gravel with small concrete walkways. Landscaping & driveways seem to be a work in progress but are meticulously maintained. Bathrooms / showers are basic but spotless. And there's even a field in back for walking your dog.

There's nothing here for kids (& no outdoor lighting at night) so we wouldn't particularly recommend this park for families. And there are no long-term stays. But if you're passing thru this area, overnite or for several nites as a basecamp, it's a great little place to stay.
