I have just made a touch-and-go from Monument Valley to Mesa Verde National Park.
Recapture Lodge is a lovely place, quite quaint.
Jim and his family seem to be a very kind people.
I recommend this hotel!

The staff are super helpful and friendly. They checked us in very late, and gave us some recommendations on where to find food. They also gave us some tips on how to feel a little more comfortable in the desert (having come from a high humidity area in Australia).

The rooms are very comfortable and the WIFI good. They are very clean, and the shower is hot and pressure good. They are a little dated, but it adds to the charm of the hotel.

They have a free breakfast included, which is very generous, and tasty.

There is also access to a short walk behind the hotel down to the nearby Bluff. I recommend going to do this 5-10 minute walk, as the views are spectacular, and there are a few art installations hidden along the path.

Great hotel - will definitely stay again if we're lucky to be in this area again in the future.

Nice base camp location for this part of Utah. Nothing fancy just a nice clean hotel with very helpful and friendly staff. They also host a huge collection of area maps and books for hiking and camping. A very nice resource in this age of electronics.

This is a very cool older style motel at the crossroads of Bluff, Utah. When you are traveling in the southeastern corner of Utah this is a great place to stop. They are pet friendly, the staff is great, the rooms are clean, but small and comfortable. There is an easy walking trail to the San Juan River, great starry nights and a historic area. We'll stay here again when we pass thru this area of Utah.

As stated, it is a older hotel more like the older lodges. You walk in and instantly you feel relaxed and welcomed. They seem to push you to just kick back and relax and take the attitude that life is simple, people make it complicated.
There is picnic tables outside and chairs outside of each room. They have a large area for you to build campfires and sit around and talk with other guests. 3 or 4 bbq pits to use and many reference books and a knowledgeable staff. Will definitely stay here again.
