“Good, but with some issues”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 July 2014 via mobile

Pros: Rooms were clean and 90% in good repair. Hotel staff was friendly during the day. The breakfast was more than adequate.

Cons: The wifi was unusable 9 times out of 10, it kept telling us that there were too many people logged on. The night attendant didn't want to be bothered when we asked for some more linens. The beds are very firm. There is a campground right behind the hotel which I'm told is owned by the same folks. The campground attendant is a curmudgeonly old guy that will tear your butt up if you accidentally pull back there, which is pretty easy to do. He doesn't just say "excuse me sir, you can't come back here" it's more like "WHAT THE F____ ARE YOU DOING IN MY CAMPGROUND! GET THE F____ OUT OF HERE G___ D___IT!" So be prepared for that!

If we hadn't had salty the sailor tear us up we'd probably have rated much higher but swearing at guests isn't acceptable in my mind. If you are trying to decide between this hotel and something in park city, go with park city. Otherwise this is the best place in Coalville. (the other options remind me of the Bates Motel)

Thank you for your review. It is always helpful to learn of the good and not so good experiences of our guests.

When things get busy in the summer it can be a challenge to keep the wifi available to everyone. Each of our rooms also have a hardwired connection to the internet. If you are trying to access the wifi with a laptop we have cables available so you can connect directly into the internet without going through the wifi system.

I feel badly that you had such an unpleasant experience with the camp host in the RV park behind us. No one likes being treated that way for a simple mistake. The two properties are totally seperate however. They are owned and operated by different companies.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your summer.

Sincerely,
Teri Welch

This is a most comfortable and attractive hotel. The location is convenient to Coalville, Utah, which is a charming, old town. Taking leisure walks in town and drives through the hills and landscapes is very rewarding in many ways. We certainly plan to come back again.

I have been staying once a year on the Utah/Wyoming border for 15 years, and this hotel was the cleanest, roomiest and quietest of any in a 50 mile radius. It was a Monday night, and the desk clerk names the 3 closest restaurants and their closing times so my teenagers wouldn't go hungry. The pool and hot tub are open 24 hours---which I have never heard of in 25 years of travel. The bed was so comfortable I fell asleep with the lights still on.

My elderly Mom and I very much enjoyed the Best Western Holiday Hills, located in gorgeous Coalville, Utah (between Park City, UT and Evanston, WY). We had a handicap accessible room for Mom - and it was clean, comfortable and well-appointed. Internet worked great. Very nice breakfast area with plenty of good food choices. The room rate provided a much better value than nearby - and very pricy - Park City.

But word to the wise: Coalville is a very small town with very limited restaurant choices. We stayed on a Sunday in early June, arriving in the early evening. By the time we got around to thinking about dinner, everything had closed. Our saving grace was that we had provisions with us - and enjoyed our good ol' PB&J sandwiches - otherwise we'd have been stuck with microwaved 'guy food' (burritos, nachos, etc.) from the small market at the gas station next door. So if you are staying in beautiful Coalville and will arrive a little late, we recommend eating in Evanston if coming from the East and either in Salt Lake or Park City if coming from the West.

A great alternative to expensive hotels in Park City if you are traveling on I-80. Clean room. Comfortable bed. Better than expected breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff. Only downside is dining options in Coalville (although good pizza at Vic's on Main). If you want something more, eat in Park City before arriving.

I have stayed at this location in the past. The hotel staff there and at Evanston, Wyoming have been very good to me. However, don't bother staying at the Rock Springs WY location. I attempted to stay there at approx 2am on May 22, and the front desk associate (Teresa??) was extremely rude. She did nothing to assist me even though they were out of rooms. She did not want to call another hotel there, nor did she want to be bothered to call the BW at Evanston which was another 100 miles from there. The Rock Springs location, in the past, also had a faulty toilet or something with the plumbing, and management did not resolve that and also acted like they were too bothered by assisting their customers. I will NEVER use that location again. I have always had great service at Coalville, UT and Evanston, WY. I frequently travel that route, so do yourselves a favor and map out your trip to SKIP ROCK SPRINGS Best Western.
