Early p.m. and rooms available. By 5ish, going fast. Central location and new, but accommodating, staff. Standard room w/microwave and fridge, but no coffee. Coffee in lobby after 7 a.m. TV remote inadequate, but if you were patient and ended up with callouses on your fingertip from punching the buttons. Rate was $63 (with all surcharges) and I am a senior with AAA and AARP memberships. Being anywhere is Escalante is a treat and this location was within walkable distance of all that you might need.

Room Tip: Get a first floor room; staircase O>K>. The second floor is chosen by photographers because o...

Ok, it doesn't have a microwave or a fridge.. So what? At this price point it is a good deal.. We had a restful night here on the way from Capitol Reef to Bryce Canyon. I hope to return to see some of the National Monument.

The room was clean. Very old and in desperate need of an update. Cheap comfortable place to lay your head. AC worked very well. Older women in the front desk very friendly. Kinda a one person show. Dont expect too much. When we first stopped in the sign on the door said be back in 5. No biggy. The power went out that day so we went and traveled Hells Backbone (Do not attempt this when wet. Very slick road at the top) If you dont expect much youll love the place.

The best thing about the stay was the ability to drive right up to our first floor room. The room was clean enough, bed was barely comfortable enough, but okay, We had a fridge, but no microwave or coffee maker. Had to ask for a hair dryer. BUT worth it for the price of the room.

Room Tip: Ask for first floor if you have a lot of luggage. There are only outside stairs to the second floor.

OMG.. Where do I start?
The beds were horrible n old, could feel the springs! No coffee pot in room, no fridge, no micro, no one in lobby even at 6:30 am!
Sheets had makeup on them and a strange spot that I'm not sure what it was! Yuck!! Didn't sleep at all and my neck and back are killing me from the horrible, old beds!
I'd sleep in my car before I'd sleep here again!

Our group of seven couples stayed at the Prospector on our way to Capital Reef. We enjoyed our stay. Inexpensive, clean rooms, very friendly staff. Nothing fancy, but comfortable. WiFi was free with good reception. Within walking distance of restaurants. Of course everything in Escalante is within walking distance!

I would definitely stay here again.

Clean, well run hotel and another great place to transition before and after desert hiking. Staff friendly and helpful. Escalante is a good base to launch desert adventures. Well furnished attractive rooms. A little weird to see all of the jeeps and ATV equipment in the lot, but folks were well mannered. I think business is shifting to human powered exploration as time goes on...
