This was a no frills place to stay on our way to Lake Powell. It is probably a bit overpriced for what you get (we paid $98 with tax for 2 queens), but the room was clean and comfortable. There was a fridge and microwave. Continental breakfast is included although you have to drive next door to the Burger Shack to get it. The staff was friendly and there is ample parking for RVs and trucks hauling boat trailers. We would stay here again.

Stayed one night at the Whispering Sands on our way to Lake Powell. Service was excellent- very friendly and informative. I was a little worried they would charge us extra for having 3 people per room but they didn't care. Hanksville in general is a very friendly town. The night we were there they were showing a movie at the fire station, although we didn't go, we appreciated the front desk lady telling us and the fire truck that went through town announcing it via bullhorn!

There are a couple of restaurants (burger places) that you can walk to and you get a discount if you show your room key. The free continental breakfast was alright, pretty typical. The room was comfortable and clean, we had a "cabin" room which is really just a room (not sure what the difference is between a regular room and a cabin except the regular rooms are in a two story building). There were mini fridges and microwaves in the room. The sound of the AC overpowered any noise from outside- and there was a large group (including some of my fellow travelers) partying outside. Of course some things in the room are outdated (bed spread, curtains, etc) but because it was clean and didn't smell funny it was alright in my book.

I expected a sticky, stinky motel room in a town where they loathed tourists, but found a very well kept and friendly place. Would definitely recommend if you're passing through and don't want to pay the crazy room prices near the marina.

This hotel was a gamble. I needed a place between Boulder, CO and the North Rim of the grand canyon. Hanksville was it! I was pleasantly surprised. The rooms were clean and neat as a pin. The beds were comfortable and they had a washer and dryer on the first floor. The hotel was filled mostly with boaters heading to or from lake ??? I know it has to be hard to smile when you are stuck in a town like Hanksville, but the lady behind the counter could use a happy meal...Your hotel was full$$$

If you happen to be traveling through Hanksville you're only going to have a couple of choices on places to stay and this is definitely your best bet. For this category of place the rooms are extremely clean, quiet and new feeling, it comes with a voucher for a simple breakfast next door and they have internet. While it's not the four seasons, there's not much more you can ask for in a motel.

We stopped here on our way to Lake Powell. Nothing real exciting, but clean rooms and plenty of parking for what ever you are hauling. Would definitely stay again!!

This is a classic Mom & Pop motel, well maintained, clean and comfortable, in a little town along Utah 24. The room was clean, beds were comfortable, Wifi access worked fine, quiet at night. I enjoyed sitting outside the room chatting with other travelers. Nest door is a small restaurant where they set up a free continental breakfast -- juices, bagels, coffee, etc. and also a small store where I purchased Yogurt to go with breakfast. Upscale from a Motel 6 and way more friendly. Recommended!
You're about 30 miles from Capitol Reef NP and the same to Glen Canyon. Both rides are great in the morning or evening to catch the scenery.

We needed to get a room in Hanksville and Whispering Sands appeared to be the best choice. We stayed in Cabin 0 (on the end). It was very clean and had a micro and a small fridge. Everything was great except the door did not have a bolt in the deadbolt lock. We weren't happy but improvised by wedging a chair in the room between the bed and door. This was an acceptable solution to us for one night.

Also, we received 10% off for Stan's Burger Shak next door. They also provided a free complimentary breakfast in the morning.

We paid 98.00 for one night. A bit much but we had few choices.
