“Very Nice Hotel, Large Nice Rooms, and Close to Ski Resorts if Skier”
Reviewed 19 July 2014

Hotel is very clean and nice, easy to get to, and only about 15-20 mins from downtown, located at base of the foothills, which makes it close (15 - 20 miles) from the ski resorts. Has a morning breakfast included, and small bar area, can also get food around the clock, but you have to come down to lobby to pick up, no room service. Overall a nice hotel, stayed there on business and will stay again the next time i am in town.

Room Tip: Pick a room on the parking lot side of the hotel, otherwise you will hear the freeway traffic "...

I got stuck in SLC during a business trip. I was staying at the Hyatt Place in Sandy but wanted to go night skiing in Brighton. I booked a room at the Hyatt Place Cottonwood and was very pleased.

WHY YOU WOULD LIKE THE HYATT PLACE COTTONWOOD (HPC)
1. Easy access. You can easily get to downtown SLC, the airport, and the Brighton Ski Resort.
2. Clean and comfortable. It is standard Hyatt Place - sitting room with curved sofa, ottoman, desk and chair, flat screen TV and bed. It's functional and it works,
3. Free breakfast. Breakfast at the HPC is not an earth-shattering experience...you have the skillets, the waffles or pancakes, oatmeal, fruit salad, cottage cheese, yogurt...but it's tasty, good, and included in the rate. No complaints here!!!

WHY YOU MIGHT NOT LIKE THE HYATT PLACE COTTONWOOD
A. Not a luxurious experience or you want a surprise. That's not what Hyatt Places are all about. They are usually good value for money.

In this case, the HPC was a great value for my $. My work is in Sandy, but I would prefer to stay here. Thumbs up!

This is the third Hyatt Place that I've stayed in. Yes, this one is just like the other two, but that's sort of what I like about it. Hyatt Place is becoming my go-to for US domestic travel because it's always clean, convenient, with nicely designed rooms, a very comfortable bed, good breakfast, and just a good, solid overall experience. It's not super luxury, but it's definitely more than adequate. The Cottonwood property has a great view of the mountains, is easy to find, and is super-convenient in terms of restaurants and other amenities. Would I want to stay here two weeks? No, I'd probably get bored, but is it good for a few nights? Absolutely. I also want to give a special call-out to Margie who works in the breakfast room. She is super-friendly, very sincere, and had great information to share about things to do in the area.

We had a wedding for my daughter in Salt Lake City last weekend and the Hyatt was the choice for the out of town guests (me). They were so clean and nice and accommodating. Justin the night person on the desk went beyond the call of duty to help us. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone. The prices were reasonable, the breakfast was exceptional and the staff were over the top with their customer service. Thank you Hyatt-keep up the good work.

This was a very clean, well equipped and new hotel. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The room was large, as was the bathroom. There was a large dining space where breakfast (free) was served - it was excellent and got the day started the right way.

The rooms were equipped with free, high speed, wifi, the bed was comfortable. Initially I was placed in a room facing the highway and it was a little noisy - not overly, but you could hear the cars going by. I asked to be moved to a room on the other side of the hotel, which was not a problem. If you are a light sleeper, you might want to make a request.

I can't really comment on location - I was there for business, however, it is quite far from the city (about 25 minutes). However, I hear the ski areas are quite close. The area is very quiet, not a lot to do in the evening.

I would stay in this hotel again if I was in the area for business.

My company booked this hotel so I had no idea what to expect. Let me tell you! If there were six stars I'd give them seven. Justin, Nick and Leah...three thumbs up. Extremely friendly, accommodating and extending. Great conversationalists! If I'm ever back I wouldn't even bother looking at the other options. And the housecleaning...immaculate, precise. And they have all your amenities that you could want at no additional cost. Do yourself a favor and save yourself the time and energy. Thank you for a priceless experience!

We picked Hyatt Place for its great location in Salt Lake City. Right off I-215 and easy to get anywhere in the valley within 20 to 30 minutes. For skiers that don't want to stay at a resort in the canyons this would be ideal. Additional pluses, the hotel is new and modern. Great design, large comfortable rooms and really nice bathrooms. We loved the free breakfast in the morning but only took advantage of this once, it ends early.

Here's some negatives. We were on the 4th floor facing the hotel parking lot, or looking south and it's noisy. You can hear conversations in the parking lot and hallway. It's not great when you can hear the blinds being opened in the next room. The blinds...cool look and idea but if you are sensitive to sleeping in the dark the gap at top allows the hotel flood lights in all night. We found the AC unit to be loud as well.

We were uneasy about the safety of our car in the parking lot. Parking space directly in front of the hotel is limited and if you get in late you have to park at a higher level. The broken window glass you see throughout the parking lot tells you they have a car prowler issue and lack of security to handle it, I did not like that and based in that alone when we return to Salt Lake City we will pick a different location.

Room Tip: Although the view is nice facing north and west, if you want a quiet space pick an east or south fac...
