My wife and I stayed four nights at the Purple Sage in late September 2013. We were privileged to occupy "The Master Suite", which boasts an enormous double-queen bed and a separate bathroom with beautiful antique plumbing fixtures. Kathy, the owner-operator, was gracious and hospitable throughout. Breakfasts were superb and congenial, with all the guests sitting down at a communal table and sharing itineraries and insights. Kathy went above and beyond our expectations of service at a bed and breakfast, from offering guests a glass of wine on arrival, to booking dinner at the Rocking V Restaurant and accommodating our individual dietary needs at breakfast.

Room Tip: The best room is "The Master Suite", which is large and beautifully appointed.

We recently stayed at the Purple Sage Inn and had a wonderful time. Kathy was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious, with fresh fruit, some locally grown. The Inn itself has a fascinating history and is beautifully restored with Victorian decor and antiques. The rooms are comfortable and spacious. Kanab is conveniently located between Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks. It is an excellent base for visits to both parks. We highly recommend the Purple Sage Inn.

We stayed here during the famous "US shutdown" and it made up for the inconvience.....Kathy was a tremendous hostess and cooked an excellent, varied and filling breakfast - with fruit, yoghurt, eggs, potatoes and more. We had peaches freshly grown and as much juice and coffee as we wanted. One thing we particularly enjoyed was sitting round the large dining table comparing notes on what to do in the area.

We stayed for two nights in the smallest room - the others were booked - but the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was great with everything you could want - including hair dryer.

It was a perfect place to stay and both Kathy and her other guests gave us great advice on what to see. We ate out In a very good local restaurant (Rocking Vs) but we did notice others eating their dinner at the breakfast table - and we enjoyed sitting on the patio with our drinks.

Very highly recommended - we would love to return when the canyon is open - and there is so much more than the canyon to see.

What a fabulous place to stay in the heart of the Old West - at least as far as Hollywood is concerned. Our hostess Kathy was absolutely fantastic, and she operates a first class B&B. We stopped by to say hello on our way through Kanab on our way to the Grand Canyon North Rim - as we planned to stay here a couple days later after hiking into the Grand Canyon. We were fortunate enough to select the Zane Grey room - what a treat. Super comfortable bed - perfect after a 14 mile hike and 5700 foot elevation gain from the bottom of the canyon. Great history in this old house - and a fabulous breakfast the next morning.

What a great surprise! A warm welcome from the inn-keepster and a grand tour around the house are the start of your stay here. A house with a lot of history, filled with antique items. Large rooms with comfortable beds and during our stay this September it was still possible to have breakfast at the large garden table. And what a breakfast! Loads of fresh fruits, yoghurt and a hot item makes this a breakfast you'll remember.
Also the location is great, just a very short walk to shops and nearby restaurants. Certainly value for money!!

We made reservations at the Purple Sage Inn based on previous Tripadvisor reviews & I could not be happier. My husband & I were driving between Las Vegas, NV and Page, AZ so Kanab, UT was a great stopping point.
We arrived in town and had no trouble finding the historic home. Our first impression was great - beautiful gardens in front and back, a comfy front porch and lovely frame home. Once inside, we were even more pleased. Kathy, our hostess, was genuinely friendly & kind. We were lucky enough to be the only guests that night, so she graciously gave us a tour and offered us any room we would like for the same cost as the one we had reserved. We chose the spacious suite on the main floor, and were so pleased!
It felt like we had rented an entire home instead of a bedroom. First, the main, or master suite on the ground floor is truly huge. The brass bed is actually larger than king sized, with an extremely comfortable mattress, sumptuous thread count linens and many fluffy pillows. Old fashioned rose wallpaper is complimented by the embroidered quilt on the bed. Antique furnishings are stunning and the bath is simply HUGE. Great fluffy towels, wonderful soaps and lotions, plus personal care products are mingled with decorative antique shower mugs, hair tonics etc. The toilet is old fashioned with the water tank above & a pull chain to flush. Everything seems authentic to the 1884 time period in this home.
As part of her welcome tour, Kathy pointed out artifacts that had been saved from refurbishing the house, like bottles found under the porch, photographs found in between the walls etc. She gave us full use of the living room, dining room and welcomed us to partake of snacks and beverages in the kitchen.
She and Tory live across the way, so we truly had the home to ourselves. They both gave us great recommendations for hikes, drives, restaurants and things to do in the local area.Oh to have had more time! Without their direction we would have missed things like the old set where Gunsmoke was filmed, Sergeant's 3 (Kathy remembers the "Rat Pack" in town), the original Lone Ranger TV series and then a fabulous drive out to Johnson Canyon - we would never have known it was even there & it was stunning - and so much more. They have books, maps, menus and copied information for guests in the dining room, but their time spent talking and finding out your interests really leads them to make exceptional recommendations for places to go. We enjoyed talking to them both.
Breakfast in the morning was plentiful, fresh and delicious. First, since we are addicted to coffee, the night before Kathy set up the coffee maker with fresh beans and showed my husband how to start it the minute we woke up. Breakfast was served at the time we chose. Kathy arrived and set up a beautiful table outside amongst the hanging floral baskets, mountain views, tomato and flower gardens. A lovely setting with their vintage farm equipment collection and other antiques strategically displayed. At least 8 kinds of beautiful fresh fruit were offered as a first course with more great coffee and juice. This was followed with a tasty Picante Omelet Pie, fresh sliced avocado, biscuits and homemade jams and jellies. Kathy shred recipes with me and we left stuffed.
Overall we loved this inn. The genuine hospitality, true history of the home and it's furnishings, stories of the owner's family background in Kanab and comfort made the experience exceptional. We felt the value was wonderful on many levels. After seeing it, I would say spring for the main floor suite no matter what if it is available when you reserve. Every room is lovely, but the size and first floor location make that room the best in my opinion.
The level of care taken in making this home immaculate (I could see I need to clean my own light fixtures at home after staying here...), comfortable and homey is exceptional. Information and recommendations are there if wanted and we truly felt at home. I wish we were going through town again.

Stepping into the Purple Sage Inn, I felt as I was transported back in time; wearing a long dress and sunhat! The old house was beautiful and the interior was finely appointed with very interesting antiques and pictures. The full breakfast were wonderful and Kathy was even nice enough to share her recipes! Tory and Kathy made us feel very welcome and were great conversationalists. I really enjoyed viewing Tory's wildlife pictures. Our stay was May 21-24, 2013. I only wish it had been longer. I vow to return.

P.S. The cookies were wonderful too!
