“parts were good”
Reviewed 17 September 2013

We were invited to stay here as part of a family gathering, which was arranged by another family member. So we did not get to select our room. Oh well. That was the not so good part. The designers of these rooms probably had fun being creative, but practically speaking it was not very well configured. We didn't complain because things were being provided for us - there are better rooms than others, though. Just be aware of that.

There was apparently some kind of air conditioning for the room we stayed in and the motor came on and off all night; it sounded like a plane flying overhead. The lighting in the room left something to be desired and where the fan was placed, it didn't cool anything off. The shower was supposed to be like a waterfall and it was difficult to get the hot/cold ratio figured out.

Breakfast, on the other hand, was wonderful for a treat - but we certainly wouldn't eat this way on a regular basis - too many calories! You get to select one item from a choice of pastries and various beverages. I had a croissant and my husband had the cinnamon roll. We were delighted. It was so good and we got to select the time for the food to be delivered to our room, which was nice, too.

We've stayed at another location in town and would definitely select that over the Anniversary Inn if we stay in Logan again. The price is less and the rooms are a lot more comfortable. With the money you save, you can choose where you want to eat breakfast and lunch, and you'll still come out ahead.

Room Tip: Go to the website and look at the room before you make your reservation. If I had to stay there agai...

Let’s face it, couples who visit the Anniversary Inn in Logan are not there for a good night’s sleep. They don’t choose a theme room to simply turn off the lights and go to sleep. They are there for one thing: romance (read sex), and expect the Inn to inspire and encourage them towards that goal.

The Anniversary Inn’s only business objective should be: Offer an up-scale experience for loving couples. That honorable and lofty aim, however, seems to be lacking - - at least with the Pirate’s Paradise.

Why a pirate’s theme? It’s not that we have a tendency towards things nautical, it’s just that my wife was late in making the reservations and there were few choices left. We would have happily paid for one of the newer suites, but those weren’t available.

PROS
Check in was fine. The gal at the front desk was nice, efficient, and informative.

The Inn is situated in a beautiful part of Logan, and is a great place to stroll. However, if strolling the neighborhood is one of your planned activities, what are you doing at the Anniversary Inn?

The upkeep of the Inn and its ground is very appealing. A small irrigation creek runs alongside the property and adds a wonderful ambiance.

The “breakfast” is delivered at the time requested.

CONS
The Pirate’s Paradise is situated in a building behind the main office, and resembled more of a two story wooded shed. That in itself isn’t a big deal to me, since I wasn’t planning on spending too much time on the outside - - but it surely didn’t look inviting.

When we entered the room there was little to remind us why we booked the Anniversary Inn. Theme rooms are always a bit kitschy, but the theme should increase romantic feelings. I’m not talking raunchy - - more of a suggestive and slightly naughty décor. The Pirate’s Paradise, however, is definitely G-Rated and would be a great place for a slumber party for third graders. A few adult-level doo-dahs would have been nice. Even the Pirates of the Caribbean ride in Disneyland has more suggestive figurines.

The layout of the room was odd. The bed was on one side of the long room, while the TV was about 20 feet away on the opposite wall. Again, it seems romance was the last thing the designers of this room were thinking about when they created it. Many couples enjoy cuddling while watching movies, but that wasn’t an option here. Perhaps the Inn could provide pirate’s looking glasses for the couple so they could watch a chick flick from the comfort of their bed.

Okay, we thought, no problem. We can hike over to the other side of the room, put in a movie and then cuddle. That was impossible, since there were only two uncomfortable stools in front of the TV. The stools themselves were separated by a large barrel, which even prevented hand holding. Does the Anniversary Inn really think couples who check in their establishment want to watch romantic movies separated by large wooden decorations? A couch would have been nice.

And now the bed: The Anniversary Inn must realize that most of the “events” in their establishment will be centered around/on/near the bed, and is probably the most important piece of furniture in the room. A bed should not be an afterthought with an establishment like this. The bed in Pirate’s Paradise was lumpy, uncomfortable and squeaky. And who want’s squeaky beds at the Anniversary Inn? I understand that some suites have upscale beds, but why not all of them?

Finally, the “breakfast.” When you check in, you fill out a card which lists the items you want for breakfast and the time you want it delivered to your room. The choices are tasty, but a bit skewed towards the sweet. I can’t remember exactly, but I think the only savory item was a ham and cheese roll, which turned out to be a Hot Pocket. This isn’t a big deal to me, but the B&B’s I’ve been in usually have a nice breakfast room with a small buffet of cheeses, rolls, meats, cereals, juices, etc. For the price of the Anniversary Inn I would expect a nicer breakfast.

Was it worth it? Not really. There was too little inspiration with the Pirate’s Paradise. In fact, there was more distraction than inspiration. However, that didn’t stop us from our objective - - but it was in “spite of” rather than “because of” our room.

Would I try the Anniversary Inn again? Probably, as long as I booked one of their newer rooms with a better bed.

Room Tip: Go for the newer rooms.

We stayed at the Jesse James Hideout for one night. It was a fun room with a pool table, and a big jacuzzi tub, and large wooden bed. Logan was a cute, small town and we enjoyed ourselves. The inn is on a quiet street, we took a nice long walk in the morning and felt safe. We stayed at Logan as we found it a easy drive from Salt Lake on to Jackson Hole. We ate in town at the Beehive and liked that. Our room needed to be cleaned a little better. Maybe no one had stayed in it for a while and it just needed to be freshened up a little (dusty table and dirty sink), not a big deal. Also, I believe they give tours at certain times during the day, we had just checked in and someone came to tour the room. The front desk called and apologized and offered us a free appetizer. It wasn't a big deal, just letting you know, so that you are aware and might ask if a tour is coming through on the day you are there. I'm sure it is fun to tour the different rooms and see the themes. They had 2 free root-beers chilled in our room along with 2 pieces of cheesecake in the fridge which was nice. A complementary breakfast was delivered to our room in the morning at the time we specified which was great. We enjoyed our stay.

I have never stayed in themed rooms before so we were on the bike touring and thought I would bring my wife here on one of our nights. We got the Caribbean Sea Cave for the night. What a nice change of pace and cool experience. Each room seems to have so much detail in the deco to create the atmosphere. Our bath tub even had the water come out of the ceiling.

The staff was professional and courteous and made sure we even had breakfast even though we were hitting the road early.

First off, the staff is lovely - even though you rarely are going to see them. They help make the stay great and are very warm and welcoming. The concept is very cute - to find a different theme to make the day special - and it really can be more special than a regular hotel room for sure. But you have to chose the rooms carefully because older rooms are just that - old - and they aren't being perfectly maintained. Ask upon making a reservation for the newest room that they have and you will be better off. The grounds are also somewhat neglected, which should not be. But it ultimately is about thoughtfulness and the idea of bringing someone special to a special getaway is very sweet. And the small touches - sparkling wine, soda and cookies upon check in and a really beautiful breakfast, are, again, very thoughtful. Our jacuzzi tub was fantastic, the bathroom and shower was very small (but thankfully the water was warm) and the bed was comfy (Jesse James). Found it odd that there was no dresser anywhere in the room and the leather sofa that was in there just should be removed/replaced. I spent time beforehand trying to identify the right room and ultimately feel that I failed because of the poor maintenance of the space (and musty smell). I will try even harder next time but I will attempt to return when a special occasion warrants.

Room Tip: Good luck - ask the receptionist to be very honest about which rooms are newest. Stay in anything o...

For our anniversary, my husband and I decided to take advantage of a room at the Anniversary Inn in Logan Utah. We used to go here before it was the Anniversary Inn and always had a good time. This time, we decided to choose the Biker Roadhouse. We had never been in this room and just loved all the little touches. It was funny how many times I said to my husband that I hadn't seen some little decoration that just added to the room. The room has an old time gas pump, an old Harley, a pinball machine, pool table, jetted tub and flat screen tv. The bed is supposed to be one of those new gel beds. My husband said he really liked the gel bed. Beware, the covers on the bed are super heavy. This room as advertised was supposed to have a popcorn machine and pop machine. We were not warned in advance that they would not be in the room, so I was disappointed with that. They did try to make up for it by having a bucket of popcorn ready made and a big metal tub filled with ice and 4 different 20oz plastic bottle drinks (Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, Lemonade). There is a mini fridge in the room which houses the two slices of cheesecake. You get one strawberry and one drizzled with chocolate sauce. If I would remember this, I would ask for two strawberry cheesecakes, but they were still delicious.
Upon booking, there are options you can request they add for an additional fee (Chocolate covered strawberries, rose petals scattered, etc.) They will charge your card $50 immediately upon booking to hold the room and you must give 48 hrs notice if canceling or you lose that $50. There is no smoking, pets or children allowed in the rooms. When you arrive, they will charge you immediately for the remainder of your stay, request you complete your breakfast order and offer for you to borrow a movie from their collection. The breakfast choice is a croissant with ham and cheese, a cinnamon roll, bagel w/ cream cheese or croissant with raspberry and cream cheese. You also choose two drinks per person as well as the time for delivery to your room. It will also arrive with a yogurt parfait. There are complimentary cookies near the front desk.
The Anniversary Inn in Logan consists of several buildings, so the Bikers Roadhouse requires you to go around the corner from the main house and park. The room gives the appearance there are windows, but there are none. The heater is located by the front door and pool table which are located somewhat far away from the bed. We kept warm enough, but the heater is quite loud.
They were running a special and we went during the week, so the price was $199. After taxes and such it was about $230. When checking out, since you already paid, you can leave the key in the room. Check out is by noon.

Room Tip: They have a website, so you can review all the rooms or they provide tours so you can check them out...

We loved our room and the bathtub. It's expensive, but an anniversary is worth your dollars and so is this hotel.
The bed was a kingsize, big-screen tv and free movies to choose from.
They bring you a free breakfast to your door.
And with a little planning, you can make it a lot cheaper.
