We stopped for lunch two days after Christmas (2013). While I'm sure the 'chain' restaurants were packed, here we were greeted by a friendly hostess and seated immediately in one of the prairie schooner booths next to the campfire scene. We both had the lunch special of rolls, soup or salad, cod & shrimp, broccoli, and au gratin potatoes (our choice). I tried the Ginger Chicken soup and it was wonderful. Portions were generous, to the point that I took half of mine home for lunch the next day. Perhaps the best part is that we didn't feel rushed and were able to enjoy our meal without a crowded foyer full of people wanting our table. This is also a nice place to start a walk along the Ogden River, on the Ogden River Walkway either before or after your meal.

This restaurant is a regular for us, being locals, a quiet location next to the Ogden Riverwalk, Western themed restaurant. Dining area is mostly booth seating, and they have a large dining room for groups. My steak always arrives perfect, with melted butter on top.
Do not leave here without trying the mushrooms.

We've eaten here many times. Great for special occasion dinners. All 4 of our children picked Prairie Schooner for their graduation dinner. I also come for business lunches. It's a fun atmosphere, eating in the covered wagons, with a campfire scene in the center. The food is very good and lunch is very reasonable.

We first found the Prairie Schooner 34 years ago when traveling north from Calgary, Canada, to Palm Desert, California, hauling our fifth wheel trailer. Steaks are outstanding as always; and we're still like a couple of kids when we see all the covered wagons around the warm campfire scene. . . . even though we're now "old folks." So, it's a "must" for us to stop at this delightful place, even if it means a shorter day or an extra overnight in Ogden. Thank you,Tyson, for your great service on the evening of the 18th; and Mary, too, for your friendly welcome and especially for the nice picture you took of us!

I have been to Prairie Schooner twice and I loved it both times! The ambiance is probably the best of any place I have ever dined at because of the "wagon train" look. You basically sit in booths that look like covered wagons around a camp fire! The steaks are a bit pricey, so be prepared, but they are excellent! The burgers are also good. Staff has always been extremely nice and you will have plenty to eat. Probably not the type of place a vegan or salad nut would enjoy, however.
