Best Western Plus High Country Inn
Ranked #3 of 21 Hotels in Ogden
Reviewed 14 August 2010

We are AAA members. The tourbook said that the hotel had an indoor pool, game room and spa. None of these were available. The outdoor pool had floaty stuff in it. The laundry facility was very clean, as were the rooms. The hotel is older and did not offer a breakfast. The front desk person was OK, but not outgoing.

Best Westerns are the best bet in the world of moderately-priced motels. High Country, which we found on Tripadvisor thanks to the good reviews, is fabulous: clean, doesn't smell bad (like the Comfort Inns or Red Roof Inns), spacious, with sofa, desk, mini fridge and microwave, and a split bath with separate Kohler sink (really nice!) in marble, and many mirrors, including a full-length one -- in the room. The bed was comfortable (nothing to write home about, but good), and we got a good night's sleep. Unlike the Comfort Inn, the rooms are a distance apart and the walls are thick enough so you don't hear your neighbor snoring. There's also little touches like stained glass and lantern-type lamps which add liveliness to the room -- all things I appreciate it.
This motel is pet-friendly. And, best of all, they have an incredible INCREDIBLE dog park in back of the motel, just for the guests and the dogs -- complete with doggy bags and trash cans, and an incredible pond and walk area (not fenced, sadly), but beautifully attended to. They also have a gated swimming pool, which looks nice.

There's a great restaurant, Jerimiah's right next to the motel, which has gotten great reviews on Yelp, and seems to have a huge breakfast menu (can't wait to try it!).

The main lodge is lovely. The staff seemed okay: neither friendly nor unfriendly (which is atypical for Best Westerns), and, the room was a good deal at $86.00 + tax. I can't recommend the High Country Best Western more, especially for clean, comfortable, dog-friendly travel!

Pulled in on a guess after 12 hours on the road and so glad we did--clean, accessible, well-appointed room at a special rate suggested by the helpful young man at the desk; well-kept pool handy for stretching and relaxing weary bodies, good beds and all the right amenities for the moment. We heard not one train and discovered the beautiful park behind the hotel for a brisk walk before resuming our cross-country trip the next morning. Exactly what we needed, when and where we needed it--we may make this place a specific stop on future journeys.

Traveling with 2 kids and 1 dog. Stayed at the Best Western High Country first night on road from Boise. Took a chance and stopped to see if they accepted pets and had any rooms available. Yes to both! It is a great little gem. We got a double room. Very clean, quiet and in order. All rooms face outside. No inside halls to deal with. There is a pool. Our room was on the back side of hotel and faced a park. Couple of acres at least. Has a pond with a bridge. Lots and lots of grass and a paved path to walk/jog around. For guest with pets it is fantastic! The staff was great. There is a restaurant that shares the same parking lot. We ate there for dinner. It was a decent restaurant. Food was good and prices reasonable. I recommend High Country to all traveling in or through Beautiful Ogden UT!

We pulled into this property, right off the highway, got a very nice room for the three of us. The room was clean, no odors, bathroom clean with plenty of towels. We were on the front of the hotel, so were not bothered at all with any noise from trains as others have described. The adjacent restaurant served good meals, reasonable price. The only problem we had was the hot tub--it was in a little room of its own in the fitness center. The jets were STRONG, but we had to leave, as the noise of the hot tub was deafening--could not carry on a conversation!

We were traveling cross country, and had driven over 600 miles for the day. Were bone-tired, but needed a decent place to stay.
This Best Western was right off the interstate,so we pulled in to check rates.
Lobby was gorgeous, the hotel staff was friendly, and granted us a ground floor floor as we requested.
My husband gave the room a good looking over, however it wasn't until a few hours later that we noticed the carpeting in the entire room was soaked. The carpet had been cleaned, but the water had not been extracted.
Our luggage that sat on the floor had wicked up the moisture and made for a smelly wet mess.
We did complain about it at checkout, and rec'd a small break on the room.
We were just so sapped from driving all day, and the hotel was completely full up, that moving to another room was not really an option.
Rate was $90 for 2 queen beds senior discount.
Room was beautiful and spacious.
Easy on-off freeway access
