Reviewed 20 April 2014

I stayed at the Lamplighter Inn for one night in early April on my way to Bryce Canyon. The owners were friendly. The building is a bit older but by no means falling apart. The room and bathroom were spacious and most importantly, they were very clean. The heater in the room is awesome but can be somewhat loud. Nice water pressure in the shower. The mini fridge and microwave are a huge bonus. It was nice to be able to keep our drinks cold for the following morning. The Lamplighter is approximately 20 miles from Bryce Canyon. It's located in the town of Panguitch which has a few options for dining or groceries (though they close early). Nice value for $47. No frills but also no issues with my stay.

On the way to Bryce Canyon the next day. This was perfect for our family. Spacious and comfortable. Plenty of pillows and clean. The evening was very cold and the heater worked great. Easy checkout by using the drop box. No breakfast but we were eager to leave for our trip to Bryce Canyon!!! cute little town of Panguitch. A town full of life. The gas station was down the street from this place.

We stayed for one night to visit Bryce Canyon National Park. It seemed to be kind of old, but the room was clean and the beds were comfortable. We had a very good price, and absolutely recommend if you don't need a luxurious hotel, but a cheap and nice place to rest.

I know this place has had some dodgy reviews, but we stayed here for 4 nights last month and got a huge room (room 10 at the back of the property), which had two extremely comfortable queen beds, tons of space, all the usual amenities. Okay it's an older place, a bit dreary from the outside, with older furnishings inside, but it was quiet, had good internet connection, was comfortable and had a fridge and microwave, so it ticked all the boxes for us. The owners were nice too. Panguitch is a funny old place anyway and all the motels seem to be of a similar age. I think some of their rooms are quite small, but certainly Room No 10 was one of the biggest rooms we've had so far on our three month trip. If you want plush and fancy, you need to go and stay in a Best Western right on the edge of the entrance to Bryce Canyon, but you'll probably be paying at least double what you'll pay here, so if you're on a budget, give it a go.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 10 which was a huge twin room, at the back of the property, so it was quiet and ha...

Visiting the Bryce Canyon area.
Things were busy so we decided to book ahead, and there was very little available, so we reluctantly settled for 2 nights at the Lamplighter, even though the reviews were not too good. I can do "cheap and cheerful", but this one was neither, and had we not paid in advance, we would definitely not have stayed.
Its a dull . brown, dreary, miserable place. We were given room 6, which smelled strongly of cat urine. The manager was very apologetic, and changed us to room 9 which was a bit bigger, and slightly more cheerful, though with the same old worn out (though clean) bathroom. It was reasonably comfortable otherwise.
The outside sign states "breakfast", but there is no breakfast. The ice machine was not working. The coffee pot was dirty.....I didnt even want to use it after I had washed it.
The manager needs to wear a clean T shirt every day.....he was still wearing the same old grey stained T shirt on the morning of our departure..........
There are other mom and pop hotels in the same street which looked a little better.
Panguitch has only one passable restaurant.....so my advice would be to drive on to the delightful Cedar City if you cannot find suitable accommodation.

the large trash cans in front of every room should have been the first clue! this place is anything but CLEAN! that is why they do not show a picture! the bathroom is the first one ever. so old and the entire place STINKS! super run down. i am positive the other review was them trying to convince people to stay. and lets not leave out the gap under the door, incase you really want to get creeped out!!!!

We spent one night here driving through, and found the motel to be quite clean and comfortable. The motel is older, as are all the motels in town, but it is definitely a good value. The staff assisted us in finding decent places to eat as well. We would definitely stay here again!
