if you want to feel indulged, cared for and wealthy(even if you are not), head for the Waldorf Astoria in Park City. a beautiful place, with the most phenomenal service. we have been to many 5 star hotels all over the world-- and this was the best.

My husband and I went for our annual ski trip to Park City in February and decided to stay at the Waldorf. We had friends join us and they stayed in an adjoining room. All four of us loved it. We had the large king suite with a full kitchen living room, two bathrooms, coat closets, two fireplaces, balcony, etc. The service was great. The concierge was very attentive and helped us with dining selections. From the Viking appliances in the kitchen to the jacuzzi tub and full size Whirlpool Duet washer/dryer, everything was designed for convenience, luxury and comfort. Even with all our ski gear, we had plenty of room for everything. The gondola to the Canyons ski lift is right across the street and the shuttle can conveniently take you to Deer Valley or Park City Mountain. The only meal we ate in the Powder restaurant was breakfast, but the full buffet and menu items were great. The outdoor fire pits, swimming pool, cozy seating areas and well-stocked gift and apparel shop were exactly what you would expect from a Waldorf Astoria. And the on-site ski services were very good. Definitely worth the cost. We will undoubtedly go back.

We were recently at the Waldorf on a business trip. The property was great but the service was very spotty. Most of the people we dealt with were really great but scheduled rides to be picked up in town and at Deer Valley never came and a few other small things were off. Our friend's room service didn't show up 3 different times. On the other hand, Jill the concierge was fantastic, the restaurant was very good and the spa was fantastic. Lastly, the rooms were small for the price. Shuttles take you to any of the local ski mountains.

we were there with our families and grand kids. they had large suites, we had a private room.
Internet was nearly useless for 5 days and they did not acknowledge it. Caused major business problem for me. Food service was slow to terribly slow, but food was average, hotel looked half empty. Best part was help by the front door for cars and shuttle. VERY disappointed. They did try to make us happy by points returned but that is not what a trip is about.

Room Tip: check on Internet if you need it

We are luxury travelers so those reading the reviews please take note of this. This hotel is labeled as a 4.5-5 star property. And it is priced accordingly. It is my theory that a great property, a great anything really will Under promise and Over deliver. And the opposite was true in this case.

Are there positives here? Yes many. I am not saying this is a lousy property, or that we had a poor experience. What I am saying is that it is not nearly close to a 5 star resort and that the cost is WAY disproportionate to the end result. We arrived on Friday and had an early lunch in the restaurant. It was superb. And that was the last quality meal we had on site. The location is decent, and it has it's own gondola to the canyons base. The ski personnel on site are not with the hotel, so that service is decent but not personalized and is a bit spotty, although everyone was very friendly. Spa services were excellent and the facility was decent although the maintenance is inconsistent. Room service is NOT recommended as we had multiple issues with quality, timing, etc. The resort remedied some of this but it was pretty bad and I had to follow up multiple times to get it resolved when they should have addresses it immediately from the outset. The concierge desk is helpful (we worked with Jill) although a CC was required for reservations which is something I have never experienced at any restaurant in the world ever so that was odd but the follow up and was efficient and helpful. Rooms were made up in the barest version possible - quick made up bed, no turn down service, no replenishes products or coffee and again, for the price this is inexcusable.

The bedding is comfortable, the public spaces cozy and well appointed and the gift and sundries shop was incredibly well stocked for a tiny location.

Overall, there are some management and service issues that need to be addressed. Simple training will address and resolve these issues. Until then, the star level, and pricing, should be adjusted accordingly and when that happens maybe I could recommend people visit but now?? Not at this price.
