“Fabulous meal”
Reviewed 8 August 2014 via mobile

After eating on the heavy side all week we opted for Asian fusion - and Shabu was fabulous. For the starters the blistered string beans, firecracker shrimp and potstickers were all delicious. The miso black cod was so good, it melted in our mouths. Of the dishes our party of 5 had the seafood was definitely the best although beef dishes good too. The warm peach ginger pie was wonderful as was the pineapple upside down cake. We felt sated but not uncomfortable after a truly delicious meal. We sat on the back deck which was very pleasant. Our waiter Chewie was very helpful and personable. Highly recommend.

“Great asian fusion and fun atmosphere”
Reviewed 3 August 2014

My wife and I are world travelers and exploring menus across the globe is one of our pasttimes. Having been raised in Park City we often return to spend time with friends and family. There are only a few restaurants that we put on our "must revisit" list. Shabu is definitely at the top of this list. With a keen eye for perfection Shabu never ceases to amaze me in their Asian-Fusion dishes and creativity in their sushi offerings. With owner Kevin available as the face of Shabu, you are sure to be treated to some of the best service available anywhere. We look forward to our next visit to see whats new and unique on the menu.

I can only speak for the sushi but it was delicious. The service was good and price reasonable for Main Street.

“A Personal Favorite in Park City”
Reviewed 20 July 2014

Shabu is a little Asian-Fusion jewel. A terrific spot for a gathering of friends that love creative recipes, unexpected presentations and an atmosphere that is just plain fun. For starters, don't miss their "Firecracker Shrimp". It could be their signature dish but there are several more such favorites. Thin slices of beef that you cook yourself on a hot rock (!) is another fond memory of Shabu, as well as the green beans in peanut sauce; both are a must-have! Their sushi offerings are top-notch and all choices are terrific. Reservations? A must in season, but in summer you can choose inside (a bit crowded but fun), outside/back on their little deck (great for conversation), and outside/front (then add people-watching on Main). Shabu is one of Park City's genuine treats and should not be missed. Hint: summer is coupon season so check the local paper. Then enjoy your evening... and unless you can resist... your second evening not long thereafter.

“The Loudest Restaurant We Have Ever Eaten At. Ever. Anywhere.”
Reviewed 12 July 2014

My wife and I have lived in Park City for 13 years, and generally prefer eating in Salt Lake City as the restaurants tend to be of better quality and more reasonable prices. This particular night, we decided to give Shabu a try to celebrate our anniversary. We had a coupon from the Park Record that made the meal just expensive rather than ridiculous.
Without question the loudest restaurant I have ever eaten at. I mean, maybe I've been to sports bars that were louder, but at this price point I expect something other than a cacophony, in part created by patrons who were obviously drunk. The buffoon at the next table, in addition to screaming out obscenities throughout the meal, actually knocked his chair over when he tried to get up.
Service was generally poor. Appetizer plates left on the table while we were eating our main course. Our server only asking how our meal was after we had finished eating. Rice that was supposed to accompany my wife's dinner, that was never served, and when brought to our server's attention, not even an apology was forthcoming.
Food was pretty good. We started with the Samurai Scallops which were excellent. I had the Miso Glazed Black Cod, which was very tasty. My wife ordered the Shabu Sizzle Pan with chicken. It was bland, served without the aforementioned rice, and had no evidence of any of the teriyaki sauce that was supposed to be providing some flavor. I would recommend this dish only for those with an extremely sensitive stomach, or those who enjoy hospital food.
Our experience tonight confirms our predilection to head into Salt Lake City, where one can find many restaurants that serve expertly prepared food, in a pleasant environment, at rational prices.
