When you walk into the lobby, you are almost overwhelmed by the thick smell of curry, which permeates every hallway in the building. If you are lucky enough to have a room far from the lobby, the smell isn't as bad, but it's still noticeable. Sadly, as soon as you open the door to your room, the smell of curry is replaced by the smell of moth balls.
The room itself was definitely in need of a little upkeep: the wallpaper was peeling back along most seams; there were all kinds of stains in the bathroom; the paint in the bathroom was peeling away; and the carpets were badly stained.
The maintenance staff was in the process of painting the walls in the hallway, but there was no indication or signage of wet paint. If we hadn't been paying attention and noticed the glint of light on the fresh paint, it would have been easy to rub up along the newly painted wall.
Lastly, all employees were significantly lacking in customer service skills. The innkeeper was far more concerned about watching the NBA game on TV, than assisting me in checking in. When I passed housekeeping people in the hallway, they tried hard to avoid eye contact and couldn't be bothered to say hi, or even smile.
