“Beautiful, relaxing B&B with a great location and friendly owner”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 July 2014

My wife and I stayed here with our two children (11 & 12) and my wife's mother for two nights. The owner, Nida, was super-friendly and very helpful. She gave great suggestions for places to visit in the short 2 1/2 days we were spending in Zion. She made filling, tasty breakfasts for us both mornings including accommodating a vegetarian amongst us. We booked two different rooms...the Green room in the front of the house and the Cherry room in the back. The king bed in the Cherry room was extremely comfortable...more so than my own bed at home. The kids and grandmother said their beds in the Green room were very comfortable also.

It was the first weekend in July when we went and therefore the weather was super hot in UT. Nida kept the house at a comfortable temperature, and the second night when the outside temps came down to low 70's, she asked if we wanted the air on or sleep with the windows open. We chose to keep the windows open for the fresh UT air.

Nida was very friendly to our children, and even gave them each a little memento of their stay at the inn before we left. Before our first night there, the kids were a little skittish about staying at a B&B, but after we left they were already planning for our whole family including their aunts, uncles, and a cousin, to stay there next year.

Other reviews mentioned the little notes in the bathrooms requesting people to watch how much water they use. It's true they do have those notes, but it's also true that if you're visiting a dry, desert area like the Zion area, you should absolutely be careful with the amount of water you use. It's just common sense. The entire area was in a drought when we were there. After Zion we went to California, and digital signs on the CA highways were telling people that they were in a severe drought and that they should conserve water. If you can't handle conserving water, don't visit a water-starved desert or state!

Room Tip: Rooms in the back of the house will be farther from the noise of cars on the road in the morning.

I can tell you Nida, the owner, is very friendly, welcoming and all; however, this place is more like sharing a room with the owner. If you prefer freedom, come and go as you please, find somewhere else.

The upside:
Less than 10 minute drive to Zion Visitor Center. We got price lowered for not having breakfast.

The downside:
1) The Amber Inn B&B locates in a rock fall area, a few house down the road, one house and two people got crushed by big boulders in December 2013. So if you don't want to stay in fear of rock falling over, I recommend staying in Springdale for higher price.

2) Cancellation policy is to cancel in 2-week in advance or you will be charged the first night. After finding out about the rockfall, I can't cancel because I booked my trip 9-day in advance.

3) I felt uncomfortable with all the limitation signs. For example, you would have a sign in a bathroom saying all shower should be done in 5 minutes, please save water, or something like that... It made us really uncomfortable taking a shower after a long hike in Zion. Same thing happens with wifi. There is limitation and all. We came back early one day (5pm), and found out they turned it off :(

4) The Ivory room is facing the road and wall is thin so you would hear car all night long, but to be fair, we were dead tired after a long day so we were not bothered by it.

5) Bed is kinda squeaky. Combining that with a thin wall, you know...

6) There is no microwave, no mini fridge, driveway & parking is small & hard to get into.

7) I ask how late I should be back each night, she recommend by 11pm :( So there goes my plan for some night sky watching.

We arrived May 5, 2014 and spent 5 days here. Felt very welcomed by Nina. We had arranged our stay in early April, to stay in the Oak Room which has a King Size bed. Being a tall person, it is nice not to have a bed my feet hang off of. Room does not have individual temperature control. In early May, the temperatures are nice and the humidity is low, so we slept with the windows open. The Oak Room is on the second floor at the back of the house, but felt safe leaving the windows open. I don't know how it would be in high summer, since I assume they would be running the central air. The breakfast each morning was good and filling. It is close to Zion National Park West entrance and is only about 2 hours from Bryce Canyon National Park. Prices in Springdale, Ut. which is right outside the entrance to Zion is very steep, so we found the price to stay here very reasonable.

Nida is a wonderful host and makes delicious breakfast! She gave us so much useful information and showed us all the best outlook spots on the map, especially the ones worth the trek. We felt very well taken care of during our stay and the Amber Inn is a big part of what made our trip unforgettable. I certainly recommend this place to everyone looking to visit zion.

Amber Inn offers spacious and comfortable rooms. The beds are excellent; there is a small individual heater in each room in case you need it. It is in Rockville which is not more than a 5 minute drive from Springdale where we had dinner.
The owner, Dinah was very helpful before we even started our trip, exchanging emails and giving us precious tips on what to see en route to and around Rockville.
We were four adults and booked two rooms; we stayed two nights.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper ask for the rooms on the back; rooms on the front are very quiet until 7a...

My wife and l stayed 2 nights first of oct The home is a large 2 story built as a b+b with large bedrooms, good beds and a spacious eating area. The breakfast was very tasty with a variety of items. Nida was very helpful with suggestions on sights to see, where to eat and what would keep us busy. This was great because Zion park was shutdown during our stay. All in all excellent accommodations, good food and interesting conversations which is why we stay at b+bs.

This is an unusual review but an important one as we all hope to find a welcoming host and a wonderful place to stay. After months of planning, we were ready to see the national parks in the western states. We had researched each place to stay and were very excited about our visit...until the government shutdown on October 1. The planning began to unravel as we called to make cancellations and in this moment of intense disappointment, there was a shining star, the innkeeper at Amber Inn in Rockville next to Bryce Canyon. She both wrote and called us to help us find other places to visit in the area and her correspondence weren't just one sentence responses but detailed long notes. In a world where business owners easily become indifferent if you are no longer staying with them, Nida took the exact opposite approach. She was kind, informative and tried to help us in everyway possible. Though our trip was cancelled, we remain excited to try again next year and all because of a wonderful innkeeper! I would not hesitate to recommend Amber Inn near Byrce Canyon knowing that the people who own it not only care a great deal about the area theylive in, but also care a great deal about the people who come to visit Byrce Canyon.
