we stopped in about 6 of the shops and loved each one of them- all different, local artists were there or represented in their work in the stores, and nothing felt touristy. There is something for all spending brackets as well- from just a few dollars to thousands- but nothing that screams "cheap tourist" stuff. Xantera was just OK for lunch. I had the Mahi Cakes which was a daily special- and that was the best of the lot. Others had carnita enchiladas (disappointing), and steak salad- just OK. Portion size was good, but it is I think too pricy for the quality. And the wines by the glass are way overpriced- $11-12 for KJ chardonnay for ex. I would go back to the village for the art, but would spend my $ on that rather than eat there again.

We biked to the Village from Red Mountain Resort. Great exercise for us, but the artists had some very creative works.
All shops were very open, friendly, and willing to take time to explain their work and answer our questions.

While friends were visiting from California we took them to Coyote Gulch Art Village. We always enjoy going there and wandering around and having lunch. Our friends enjoyed the afternoon there, having lunch and checking out the art shops.

We drove out from Las Vegas. It was a Thursday afternoon, and I suspect that explained the lack of activity at Coyote Gulch that day. Very few people were there. Often we were the only ones in a gallery. The quality of the art was mixed, but there were some amazing pieces. Likewise, the prices were mixed. There are pieces that fix almost everyone's budgets and pieces that would break the average person's bank. We did meet a few artists and everyone was very friendly. It was worth the visit but I don't see returning soon, especially not on a weekday.

Coyote Gulch Art Village is located in the middle of Kayenta. It has art galleries, shops and a good café. It also contains artists housing. The studios are built with large windows so visitors can view the artists at work. Across the street from the Art Village is an outdoor sculpture garden and a labyrinth, which are free activities. It is a 20 minute drive from St. George/I-15, so I'd recommend exploring the area by hiking/biking in addition to visiting the art gallery. You can also choose to spend the night at the Crescent Moon Inn, which is in Kayenta and has nightly rentals.
