We had read about Pioneer Park while staying in St George but we focused on our visits to Zion. One evening, we took a right instead of a left and we stumbled upon the amazing place! Looks like they are doing upgrades, restroom additions, etc. Driving by on the road, you may even zoom past it if not paying attention. But believe me and STOP, get out and walk. You can do as much or as little as you want. Our son who is 11 kept saying while at Zion he wanted to climb, well this wasnt feasable at zion. This however was up close and personal here at Zion Park. It is extremly HOT, we were not prepared because we did not intend to do this adventure on that day. It worked out for us because we were not far from the car and water. So, take a camera, take water and take the family. You will not regret it.

Easy hike and exploration area with kids. Fantastic views and large picnic area-- all without having to leave the center of the city!

We spent a whole morning wandering around the red rocks in this park. It is often packed with people but we went on a week day morning and it was not too crowded. The rocks are beautiful and there are a couple of old Indian ruins. The views from up on the rocks is very nice of the city and surrounding area. There are some arches and a fun little slot canyon. We watched climbers going up the cliffs near the entrance to the slot. Be sure to wear good shoes to scramble up the rocks. Also keep an eye on young children as they explore the rocks. We got some amazing pictures in this beautiful area. To top it all off is is free.

Your place to view the city. Nice short hikes and climbs. Beautiful red rock and a great place to take pictures.

A nice little red rock area for very easy hiking. Great views of St George. The parking is limited and it was very crowded (with lots of children), probably because of the proximity to the city and the mild terrain.
