Well it was perfect, everything about our dinner was perfect. It was my wife's birthday and I wanted a special place to enjoy the day. We were warmly greeted and seated immediately, reservations are accepted. We were presented w warm freshly baked bread, it was delicious. Wife ordered a petite filet mignon prepared medium. It was perfectly prepared and melted in your mouth.
I ordered a strip steak and it was a man size portion. The veggies and potatoes were prepared w herbs and spices and were very tasty.
There is a nice selection of cocktails and matching wines. Wife ordered a Mojito, it was fresh tasty and a ample 16 ounces. My wine was well matched with choice of entree.
Our waitress recommended Lemon Soufle it was the best.
We would go back in a minute. Best dinner in a long.

I never miss a lunch at the Painted Pony when staying in St. George. I find the menu reminiscent of my favorite restaurants in northern California. The service is always exceptional and the outdoor patio is one of the best: Always shady and comfortable, regardless of the weather.

Very good for a restaurant in a smaller city. The decor was interesting and the location was very nice in a historical part of the city. I loved the unique menu and highly recommend the onion soup and the potato-leek-bacon cake.

This is known to be the best restaurant in St George. In other cities, this would be a normal, good eatery, but unfortunately in St George most of the restaurants here are part of a chain (not that Chili's, Texas Roadhouse, and Olive Garden aren't just fine, but......). They have a full bar and a good wine list, and their lunch menu is the best bargain around. The atmosphere is upscale, and before or after dinner you can walk through some of the art galleries that share the same building. The food is good, the service is great and the atmosphere unique (i.e. water is served in pewter glasses). In good weather, there is limited outdoor seating too. This is the place where locals go for a "special occasion," but the prices are reasonable. Be sure to make reservations if dining on the weekend!

This place has set a new bar for my personal reviews of local restaurants in smaller cities. What a spectacular find. The excellent onion soup is presented in - wait for this - a nicely hollowed out real onion with perfectly melted cheese on top. At first I thought it was just a clever bowl - but no. My husband enjoyed the special carrot / jalapeno soup, but mine was the winner. I stayed with a "small plate" of crab cakes as an entree - excellent with an avocado / cucumber salsa on top. Plenty for dinner. The other entree was their sirloin - cooked as ordered, and beautifully accompanied by asparagus and their signature potato / leek / bacon tart. Had a $30 bottle of sauvignon blanc which balanced out every thing. Service was top notch. I need to come back here often but live too far away.
