Lodge at Snowbird

We stayed in efficiency at Lodge at Snowbird for 8 nights in February. Was well equiped room, comfortable murphy bed, fantastic housekeeping service. Best of all was the spa area and heated pool, perfect for soaking after day skiing. And only very short walk from ski lockers to the slopes. Loved it and will be back.

We couldn't get rooms at the cliff lodge and stayed at lodge at snowbird instead. Turns out that the rooms were larger and staff just as accommodating if not more. Easy access to ski area, 24 hour coffee or hot cider/ chocolate and nice fire place in lobby. Quiet rooms for recovery after 8600 ft powder days.

We stayed in a room with one sofa bed last weekend. The sofa bed was firm, but comfortable. It was not flimsy like your normal sofa bed. When we turned the fireplace on, it seemed a little lame in terms of the flame, but it warmed up the studio easily! The kitchen is fully stocked. If I were to cook a serious meal, I'd being my own knife.

Housekeeping was generally very good (they left cookies and chocolates!), but we requested extra towels the first night, since the water from the shower got behind the toilet (even though we thought we had put the shower curtain flush to the wall). The towels never came.

Front desk is super friendly and helpful. They will hold your bags and let you use the property (sauna, steam room, shower) throughout the day after you checkout so you can continue to ski! Steam room was not very steamy, but the sauna was nice. I didn't use the fitness center, but the machines seemed adequate, but not the newest. They keep your car keys in case they need to clean up after snow (saw some people buried over at Alta), so this is a huge plus.

You have to walk a short walk and then a few flights of stays through the Snowbird Center to start skiing, but it was easy enough. We also had free wine, cheese, and passed hors d'oeuvres in the lobby on Sat night and there was always hot chocolate, coffee, and tea in the lobby.

Room Tip: Mountain view is beautiful!

We decided that it was time to ski Utah, and wanted to go to Snowbird. We had read online the perks of staying off the mountain vs. on...I cannot tell you what exactly led us to decide to stay on the mountain, but we wouldn't do it any other way!

The Lodge at Snowbird was wonderful; friendly staff, free coffee and tea any time of the day, easy parking, and a fantastic room. We wanted to keep costs down by bringing food in, and the kitchenette--which truly is a full kitchen, complete with large fridge, stove, oven, dishwasher, coffeemaker, microwave, utensils...everything you could possibly think of!--made it possible to eat in for the entire vacation. Being literally on the mountain, we could wake up at 8, make a breakfast, and still be on the tram by 8:45. It's a 5 minute walk to the lifts (if that!). It was so worth it to not have to drive the hill every day...which is a beautiful drive, to be sure, but could take away from time on the slopes!

There are ski/board lockers in the building near where you exit to walk to the lifts, so on the way back at the end of the day, you can drop everything off with ease and keep the snow out of your room.

In addition to the kitchen, the room had a nice big, round table to eat at/stack clothing on at the end of the day, a fireplace that heated the room up nicely, and a sleeper sofa...which was surprisingly comfortable. The pillows were not bad, although we brought our own...which always makes a nice difference. :) The room also had ample room to store clothing in drawers, hang jackets, etc. The bathroom is simple but has a nice detachable shower head with great water pressure.

I cannot speak to the other properties on the mountain beyond what we saw on a little self-directed tour (The Inn, Iron Blosam, and The Cliff), but we feel we made the right choice. The Cliff is described as ski in/ski out, but truly, the Lodge is just about there, too. The lodge was cozy while allowing us to bring a lot of stuff with us and live comfortably for nearly a week. If you're looking for more of a luxury experience, the Cliff is certainly beautiful, it just has a different feel from the lodge.

The staff was welcoming and helpful for start to finish...we were really pleased. Overall, it was a vacation with so little hassle...and of course, the snow was epic. We came back to our room smiling ear to ear every day.

We will be back to Snowbird as soon as possible! Thank you for such a great and memorable experience!!

We celebrated our 11 year anniversary in a room at the Lodge at Snowbird. When making the reservations, budget was a big issue, and the reservations agent was very helpful at helping to find something that would work for us. We settled on a room with a Queen size sofa sleeper, and were wary that the bed wouldn't be very comfortable, but it had a full kitchen, so we booked it. Breakfast was included in our package, as was a full kitchen and a gorgeous balcony that overlooked the mountain.
Upon our arrival, we were thrilled with the room. It appeared that the agent had upgraded our sofa sleeper to a full bed, (possibly because of our anniversary? I don't know!) there was a fireplace, and everything was perfect! We very much enjoyed our stay over Labor Day weekend at Oktoberfest, and couldn't have asked for a better time!

One thing to keep in mind if you do take advantage of a bed and breakfast stay like we did is this: there are two places you can redeem your breakfast certificates at. One is at the Atrium, up at the Cliff Lodge (two buildings east), and one is at the Snowbird center- (one building east.) We ate at the snowbird center the first morning, it was ok- nothing impressive. The second morning was our actual anniversary, so we wanted to go up to the Atrium. But upon our arrival, we realized that we had not given ourselves enough time. Breakfast stops at 10 AM, and we arrived at 9:30 to be told that there was at least a 25 minute wait. So we ended up back down at the other restaurant. So, if you want to dine at the Atrium, make sure you plan on getting there early.
All in all, highly recommended!

The Lodge is a good place to say for a good price. Don't expect anything too fancy, but if you want something comfortable, close to the resort, this works out great! For the best prices call Snowbird directly :) If you have young kids and book a suite, beware there are steep stairs and the outside railings have big spaces. You may want to tell them you have kids? Don't know if they put you in a different setup for that.

Snowbird is one of my favorite places to stay at. It is beautiful and the property is well kept. They have done a bang up job on ensuring their practices are sustainable, they were green before being green was cool. The forest there is really, really healthy, esp. coming from Colorado. We've been going there on and off in the summer for sixteen years and it's just as beautiful as it was sixteen years ago. The rooms are nice, the views great. The staff at the restaurants are nice. They have updated their rooms over the years and they are up to date- rooms have a nice flatscreen TV and all rooms have a DVD player, there are also CD players by the bed.

The reason I give it a four instead of a five was because we had some minor problems this trip. First we were given the wrong room. Second, we had a HECK of a time getting our keys to work- it took at least three times each time to get IN our room. Third, there were two lamps in the room that didn't work. Usually Snowbird is on top of these things- not sure what is going on. They did have a MAJOR bike event the day before and were sold out (on a Wednesday night in July).

There are more people here in the summer than there used to be, there are more attractions for kids too- a motorized zip line, a slide, and some other things.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that is facing the ski slope. There are also rooms that are king suites that are very...
