This place is among the easiest 5/5 I’ve ever had to decide. First class rooms, views on the red mountains, and bison on the front lawn. Excellent breakfasts. Wonderful hosts. I had work to do, and hung out in the expansive lobby, and at around midnight saw the owner’s wife’s come through the lobby with laundry. These people work long hours! The place is run pretty much inhouse. As in, little is sent out to be done.
A few reviews have pointed out that to use the inroom traditional fire places, you have to call the hosts, and that it was excessive. The Lodge is a ‘great lodge’. Lotsa wood! We have fireplaces in all our Homes, and can totally understand the requirement that the hosts start the fireplace/s. Also as a log lodge, sound travels pretty good. There are *no* televisions, which I really like. I think that a super light sleeper may have issues, especially if there are rambunctious kids in the Lodge. Location is really near Capitol Reef NP.
The Lodge has an impressive Navajo rug collection. We have a bunch ourselves, but the Lodge’s collection belong in a museum! Most impressive is a massive Navajo rug, to which the Lodge seems to have been specifically constructed to showcase, in the lobby. I look forward to my next visit!More
