“Very Nice B&B”
Reviewed 8 June 2014

My wife and I stayed here for three nights while visiting Bryce. We had a very large room (on the second floor) with a king bed for quite a reasonable price. The B&B is very clean and location is great. David and Alice were excellent hosts. At night, there is an incredible view of the sky. My only reason for giving four stars instead of five is that for breakfast (which is quite generous in size), there was some difficulty in accommodating a dairy allergy.

If you are looking for upscale swank this place it not for you. If you are looking for a home on the range complete with super friendly hosts (David and Alice), great breakfasts, beautiful views and a very comfortable room with full bathroom, this is your place. We received excellent value for our money. Getting to feed the horse. mule, goat, llama and play fetch with the adorable house Labrador "Zoe" was a bonus. The location is also excellent. The house is perched high above and back the highway so there is no traffic noise. It is 2 minutes from Tropic for groceries or dinner and about 15 minutes from the gates of Bryce Nat'l Park. We stayed in one of the two upstairs suites.

Room Tip: An upstairs room

We liked our room with a private entrance as it afforded us some privacy not normally available for a B and B. Our room was clean and comfortable and the outside views are beautiful. The hosts were very helpful in giving us tips on places to visit and out of the way sights to see. Breakfast was good. You can really tell this is a working B and B - it has a very casual feel and a casual approach by the owners. It truly feels as though you have stepped into someone's home for a visit - maybe somewhat unexpectedly. We also loved the fact that the owners are passionate about the area and are animal lovers with soft hearts for all creatures. For dining options it's best to plan your times accordingly - the few places in town (Tropic) can have very long waits.

We enjoyed our stay at Buffalo Sage B&B. Nice owners and excellent food!. You had a choice of breakfast times and could choose to eat inside or out on the deck. We had two queen sized beds which were very comfortable. We saw rainbows from our deck both afternoons and awesome mountain views from the property. There is a small refrigerator for guests and I was able to freeze my water bottles for the cooler. Your GPS may not be able to find the exact location on the street, but you will recognize the photo from their website. Be aware if you are coming from Las Vegas area that there is a time change which almost made us late for check in.

Amazing little B&B in Tropic, close to Bryce National Park. Alice and David were great hosts, the room was one of the best I've stayed in during my road trip across America and very, very comfortable and cozy. The fact that it has a separate entrance made it feel even better. Breakfast in the morning was very complete and delicious. Highly recommended!

Buffalo Sage was a cute place to stay. The rooms are clean, a good size, and have good Internet connection. The balcony has beautiful views of the valley.

The drive into Bryce Canyon isn't too bad, just beware to plan your day to stay near the park for dinner so you're not driving back and forth so much. There isn't much for food in Tropic.

The owners are very friendly and encourage conversation among their guests at breakfasts, so you will likely meet some new friendly faces. The breakfasts are huge and hearty. I felt bad cause I couldn't get through all the food even though it was tasty, but then learned that the leftovers go to the eagerly waiting pet goat and donkey and didn't feel so bad about the waste.

Pulling into small town Tropic after visiting Zion, we were initially impressed by the descent from the plateau to the valley. On a hill off to the left, looking a bit isolated and bare was Buffalo Sage. Zoe, the pet dog, greeted us with loud barking, and quickly Alice and David appeared to welcome us in. Our room was great: large, internet, nice bathroom, clean, plenty of light, even a DVD player! Right outside our door was a great view of the valley, and one could also use the upper porch if desired. On a clear night plenty of stars were visible as the ambient light from town was very limited. We were a short drive from downtown where there were a couple very respectable places to eat, and we were 20 minutes max from Bryce. Alice and David were delightful hosts and we spent a part of each morning not only enjoying some very good breakfasts but wonderful conversations. They both hail from cosmopolitan backgrounds, seemingly out of place with one's initial expectations of seeing Tropic for the first time and trying to fathom what drew people to the area to run a B&B. No matter. This B&B is worth your time and money, even with a heat wave!

Room Tip: From what we saw, the rooms looking over the valley towards the Paria river bed...
