Interesting revolutionary war history and the views of three states were spectacular. We did think the $5 fee was a bit high for an elevator ride to the viewing area.

This monument was a nice way to spend a little time on a nice day. The grounds are very pretty, the staff was very pleasant, helpful, and knowledgeable. Great photo opportunity from the observation deck.

I have to admit: I was not familiar with the Revolutionary War's Battle of Bennington. But, evidently it was a pivotal battle where solders from Vermont, assisted by those from New Hampshire and elsewhere, fought the British and their German mercenary allies.

The monument itself is an imposing structure, built in the 1880's and '90s, and opened on the 100th anniversary of Vermont becoming our 14th state in 1891 (I believe). We saw it from a distance and investigated ... well worth the short time to visit and take the 1 minute elevator ride to the observation level (only $5 for adults) ... you can see quite a way into the beautiful green countryside (and as far as into the neighboring states of New York and Massachusetts).
