Owner description: This 1805 Bennington church is where poet Robert Frost is buried.

This is a well preserved bit of American history in a beautiful setting. Although the church was not open, the exterior and setting were magnificent. Located directly across the church is an unrestored inn from 1771 - a beautiful sight in a grayed wood, dilapidated way. Did I mention 1771?
Most of our time was spent wandering the large graveyard where many revolutionary war dead are buried, identified with plaques. Robert Frost's grave is also located there with signs leading it. Great epitaphs.

Set in a beautiful New England community this church shares so much history. The homes around the place are beautiful and you also get to see where Robert Frost is buried. This is worth the stop.

We arrived too late to tour the church but had time to walk through the cemetery. It's very moving to see Robert Frost's grave and other historical graves. Be sure to take time for this experience.

Non-commerical, non-Disney-esque bit of history that continues into our current time. Grace permeates the church as well as the graveyard.
No admission fee. No gift shops!

This church goes back to the 1700's. It is still in use today. In the afternoons it is open for visitors. You can only imagine the thousands of people who have been through here over the course of this country.
