Owner description: The Bennington Center for the Arts continually exhibits the work of many of the finest representational artists from around the country. In addition to the artwork in the Center's temporary exhibitions, all of which is for sale, The Bennington also has a very impressive permanent collection of Native American art (Navajo rugs, pots, katsinas, paintings of and by Native Americans) as well as bird carvings by Master Carver Floyd Scholz. The Bennington is also home to the Covered Bridge Museum. Visitors of all ages enjoy the exhibits and videos and use the information gathered to better enjoy their travels through these famous structures as they travel through Vermont.

Very nice art with a great covered bridge museum. Learned a lot. Would visit again. Wish the model train had been working.

“It was our luck to be there for a plein-air exhibit”
Reviewed 17 September 2013

While we were visiting Bennington we happened to be timed perfectly for the exhibit after a 5-day plein-air event of artists from all over the country. We loved the art and time chatting with the artists who shared interesting stories about their paintings.

“Poorly Run, Classless Treatment of Artists”
Reviewed 15 September 2013

Avoid this place completely if you are a performing artist, and consider discontinuing your support of the 'organization' if you understand that performers often count on gigs to support their families. The place books well in advance, fails completely in promotion, then cancels the event at the last minute with no ownership of a mistake or compensation of any kind for the artists. Community arts could really do without this kind of operation.

“Very much a gallery only with an $8 admission fee”
Reviewed 9 September 2013

Not much to see here as far as I could tell. I'm not accustomed to being charged for gallery entrance. The outside mobile sculpture was beautiful and fun. It was all for sale with prices ranging from $400 to thousands.

Thank you for stopping at the Center. From your comments I have to assume that you decided not to come in to see all that we have to offer. We do have a number of galleries of art that is for sale by many of the finest artists working today but in addition to that, we have a wonderful permanent collection of Native American art (paintings, bronzes, pottery, katsinas, jewelry, Navajo rugs), a collection of Eric Sloane paintings, a gallery of Master Carver Floyd Scholz's bird carvings and we have a whole museum dedicated to covered bridges. Hopefully on a future trip to the area you can drop by again as we would love to have you visit.

“Fun, interesting, varied”
Reviewed 1 September 2013

Not just your standard art museum.
Different exhibits of animals, landscapes, etc. We enjoyed the viewer voting on the exhibit of animal art - pictures and sculptures. Fascinating to see how various artists see animals.
We really enjoyed the Covered Bridge Exhibit. That was intriguing to see how people view the covered bridges as not just a way for the road to cross the river.
The decorated Moose outside are cute as well.
We ran out of time (1 hour) with only a very quick view. We will return.
