“This is for the tavern part”
Reviewed 18 February 2014

They have a tavern menu downstairs and upscale menu upstairs. Tavern was rustic with a reclaimed wood look. We ate in the tavern & it was really cold in there which was the worst part of the experience! Service was attentive and the food gave a nod to the upstairs flair. The meatloaf was good and they had a little sampler with it of squash, potatoes, cabbage, carrots & broccoli. The chicken parm (I think that's what else was ordered) was good and they even let me sample the beef stew which was the special that night. The apple pie is supposedly one of the best in the area and it was really good and nicely served with fresh strawberries, ice cream & fancy sugar and chocolate syrup designs. Close to Stratton Mountain Resort...about 6 miles, but get directions.

“Great Food and Atmosphere in the Tavern!”
Reviewed 10 January 2014

A great little hidden gem not far from Stratton Mountain properties. Food, service and atmosphere are great. Perfect for singles, couples, families even thought it's a "tavern" we felt comfortable as a family. We enjoyed the "Special" Irish night on Wednesday with live music and food specials. We will be back next time we are skiing Stratton!!!

“Sorely disappointed!”
Reviewed 1 January 2014 via mobile

At first, we were charmed by the quaint atmosphere of the barn. Then we were seated in an absolutely freezing corner, neglected while large parties drew the full attention of the staff (apps that were ordered were forgotten), and vastly overcharged (including $18 apiece for kids' meals of plain pasta and chicken fingers for which there was no written menu with prices). Will never go again.

“Great Choice”
Reviewed 30 December 2013

We stopped in without a reservation based on the feedback of two locals working at the Hub in Stratton Village. Since the restaurant was booked, we ate in the tavern. It was very casual and filled with families. The food was really good and the service even better. After reading some of the reviews, I was pleasantly surprised at the latter point. Everything was done promptly from the drinks to the food. Martini's were done well, the sweet potato fries were so good we ordered a second helping and our salmon dishes were done perfectly. It clearly is a bar setting but it was a great deal of fun. There were some games to play to keep the kids entertained if you had to wait which we did not. On that note, we arrived at 5:30 pm and got the last table. When we left at 7, the place was mobbed so get there early. The place opens at 4 in the tavern. Make reservations in the dinning room in advance.

“Great time for a group of 20”
Reviewed 17 December 2013 via mobile

We were a group of 20 that had spent the day skiing at Stratton.
Ordered everything: nachos, steak salad, French dip, burgers and burgers, beer and soda and more beer. We had a great time and will be going again.
