Description: Peter Havens provides an elegant but relaxed atmosphere in which to enjoy chef/owner Zach Corbin's accomplished cuisine. The menu has French and Italian influences (always house-made pasta and gnocchi!) But always has Zach's own culinary flare. Locals and visitors alike enjoy the intimate setting and often enjoy dining at our bar, where we serve innovative and exciting specialty cocktails. Our wine list is eclectic and ever-changing, with an emphasis on natural wines from France, Italy, and the US. Reservations are recommended.

Sometimes you get what you pay for! This is a pricey establishment which lives up to its reputation. Surrounded by colorful modern paintings, the atmosphere is elegant, the service attentive, the menu varied, with seasonal specials. The cold potato-leek soup was a perfect start, our entree choices--tuna, duck, crab cakes--and side dishes--corn relish, wild mushroom risotto, grilled brandied peaches--were all delicious and beautifully plated. Nice wine selection. We were coming from Marlboro Music Festival, happy that the restaurant is indeed open on Sunday evenings (though it doesn't say so on their website).

“Best restaurant in town”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 July 2013

If we lived in Brattleboro we'd dine here often. The same bartender works here and at Fireworks. Best bartender I've seen in a long time, outside of a major metro area. Had a vodka strawberry gimlet with basil. Never order weird cocktails, but his concoctions are spot on. The whole staff worked as a team and were consummate pros.

Guess this place changed hands recently and the previous owners have nothing to fear. Their reputations are intact.

Service was friendly, low-key and attentive. Genuinely seemed as if they were glad to see you.

The food was delectable. It's now on our list of Top 10 restaurants. We went two nights in a row: The Beignets de morue, cod fritters, were perfect. The Caesar salad was topped with crispy duck confit -- what a concept!

Make a reservation... they were full, even midweek.

“Best we could find?”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 July 2013

Didn't seem to be a ton of choices in Brattleboro. We didn't think this place was as good as others made it out to be though it is priced as though it is fine dining. Enjoyed the Caesar with duck but my trout was a little dry. We called and asked if the place was "kid friendly" and got a yes. I'm not sure this was the correct answer though after lots of questions, they did their best to accommodate us. Not bad, but not memorable.

“Pleasant surprise”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 July 2013

We almost give up looking for a good restaurant in town when we found that one on trip advisor. Coming from NYC, we did not have high expectation. Well, we were pleasantly surprise to find fine dinning in that Pub/ restaurant. As appetizer we had the escargots, which was served in a puff pastry, and a crispy duck ceasar salad, both very good. I had a new york steak for entree, wife had jumbo scallops. Both also very good. Dessert was a creme brulee which was excellent. Wine suggestion was excellent. Overall a good experience. $50 pp.

“Top notch!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 June 2013

We had read the rave reviews. Right downtown. The menu looked a bit staid but we went anyway. Wow. Service was outstanding. Ambience utterly uplifted, not stuffy or cheesey.Lovely martinis. We had saffron rice pasta, soft shell crab, Caesar salad and a carame oatcake for dessert. The reviews were right.
