Description: Peter Havens provides an elegant but relaxed atmosphere in which to enjoy chef/owner Zach Corbin's accomplished cuisine. The menu has French and Italian influences (always house-made pasta and gnocchi!) But always has Zach's own culinary flare. Locals and visitors alike enjoy the intimate setting and often enjoy dining at our bar, where we serve innovative and exciting specialty cocktails. Our wine list is eclectic and ever-changing, with an emphasis on natural wines from France, Italy, and the US. Reservations are recommended.

“perfect 4th of July”
Reviewed 17 July 2014

Thankfully Peter Havens was open on the 4th. We met friends there and had a delicious meal in a setting that encouraged conversation. The local veal was the best. My husband's steak was a little tough - medium rare. Service professional and friendly. Great wines by the glass. Will definitely return when we are in the area. Worth a detour.

“Finest food and friendliest service”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

the food was superb and the service was excellent. Really a very fine place to have dinner. The waiter was even able to give me a recipe of two.

“excellent food and great service”
Reviewed 6 June 2014

The food was excellent and the service was great! I had the escargot and soft shell crab, both were wonderful. My husband had the duck pate and the duck breast and again everything was perfectly prepared. We would happily go back!!

“just about flawless”
Reviewed 3 June 2014

this was our 4th or 5th visit - every time we had reason to be in Brattleboro. The last time we were there we had noticed a slight dip from previous high standards, but they are back on top now for sure. It was a special occasion and handled like it. Wine pairings were first rate and the food was outstanding, start to finish. We are a well-traveled group familiar with fine dining, and this little place measures up to restaurants in far larger locales. We had everything from steak to salmon, and all were delighted. Not inexpensive, but a good value when you get the whole package of food, service and ambiance. We're fans, for sure!

“Going back to our old haunt proves disappointing”
Reviewed 29 May 2014

We have been going to Peter Havens for 15 years when it was run by the original owners. It was always excellent in every way, so we were curious about the new owner who was highly praised by Tom, one of the original partners. The menu and food preparation are still excellent. The staff, however, was less than professional. We were asked if we wanted bread!. The waitress tripped over her words when describing the specials. It took forever to get our drinks. We had a reservation, but had to wait 15 minutes to be seated. The hostess tried very hard to find a way to seat us for drinks while we waited, but there was nowhere to sit. An outside bench would have been welcome..it was lovely outside.. We left feeling that the staff needed some serious training. We also miss the welcome we always received from Tom, but that is hard to recreate.
We aren't ready to give up on the only really nice restaurant for miles around...and only hope that things are better on our next trip
