“The Most Wonderful Anniversary of My Life”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 December 2011

First of all, I want to comment not only on the bed and breakfast, but the area itself. My boyfriend and I wanted a getaway, like most of us, and decided to go to Vermont; a choice I will never regret. The scenery was nothing but majestic and the people, including the inn hosts, were welcoming and kind. Downtown Brattleboro was just steps away from this place we couldn't help but call home. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept on and the room was nothing less than beautiful. The little nuances such as the event and restaurant books, comment book, open library, games and rooms made this tiny inn too perfectly wonderful to describe in full. We will without a doubt be coming back.

Hi,
I cannot say enough about the charm of this place! Well appointed rooms and really thoughtful extras. We had the most YUMMY local snacks provided. This is also a eco-conscious place that encourages recycling. Everything was in perfect working order. Even though I got lost on the road, Tim and Amy were so wonderful about checking in well after check-in was over.
Also, the gourmet breakfast was superb. How many people get served souffle's at a B&B? Well, we got one! The grounds are lovely even in winter - very historic building too. The town is within walking distance and it is a really charming town. Shopping galore, nice places to dine/drink, but not "overly touristy". We would recommend this place to anyone and I think we were really lucky to have found it - we picked it as a destination that was within a few hours from home. Did I mention they have their own PUB?? So, so worth going to!

Room Tip: I think all the rooms are well separated and you hear nothing in any of them. Garden Room with the...

My wife and I stayed here in late October and had a fantastic time! Beautiful little B&B, immaculately clean, and a fantastic pub with an amazing selection of beers, both local and hard to find imports. Room was stocked with complimentary local snacks too. And Tim and Amy were extremely friendly and helped us pick a great dinner spot in downtown Brattelboro. We couldn't have asked for anything more and are looking forward to visiting again next time we're in town.

There are so many great descriptions already posted so I will just add to be sure and catch the beer tasting on Saturday nights.
This is a unique experience not offered elsewhere!
Book way ahead of time for this popular inn!

My partner and I wanted our anniversary that year to be someplace special, so we decided to make a trip to Vermont during the fall of 2010. We were looking for the perfect place...small and charming yet upscale. We found it all at the Forty Putney Road B&B.

We arrived later than expected - well past checkin time. We let the innkeepers, Tim and Amy know and they could not have been more wonderful. We arrived and the room (Maple Room in the Carriage House) was warm and inviting, with lights turned on and the bed turned down.

The next morning, we awoke to a beautiful day and enjoyed a delicious breakfast prepared by Amy who was kind enough to tell us the best places to view the foliage and great placed to explore in town (Brattleboro).

After a wonderful day out and about - we arrived just as Tim was kicking off a "beer class" at the inn and we sat in the pub and enjoyed samples of some great local beers and chatted with other guests. We mentioned, we wanted to have a special dinner that night but had failed to make reservations. He prompty recommended a restaurant - Peter Havens and even made reservations for us (amazing that he was able to get us in!).

We are definitely looking forward to our next trip to Forty Putney and have recommended the inn to friends and family and will continue to for years to come!

Highly recommended. Every amenity provided, impeccably clean & well furnished room. Outstanding breakfast, innkeeper very flexible, accomodating, courteous, but respectful of guest privacy (some B&B owners are Velcro'ed to a guest!!). Large selection of self-serve brochures and snacks.

Easy, scenic walking trails off the property ; water view. Quick access to downtown Brattleboro.

Unique French manor architecture--open layout, intersting history on original owner of the house.

Room Tip: Was very pleased w/ the Sun & Moon room. Foldout loveseat was ideal for 2 friends traveling toge...

We don't normally stay in B&Bs, but we made an exception here and were not disappointed. The house is beautiful and the room we were given was more than pleasant. The hosts couldn't be more helpful and friendly. Amy is a great cook and the breakfast was superior. Unfortunately for us, a mini-crisis at home required us to leave a day earlier than planned. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: ask for the master bedroom
