Forty Putney Road was simply spectacular. The location is so convenient to the downtown Brattleboro. We could walk to town each day and go to museums, stores, shops, movie theatre, good restaurants, etc. The B&B and the Innkeepers were fantastic. We stayed in the Carriage House, which was very private and quiet. The surroundings were extremely clean and the food was outstanding. I cannot wait until I go back there again. This lovely Inn overlooking the West River had scenic views and beautiful walking trails. Our Innkeepers Tim and Amy were wonderful and made us feel like we were old friends. Our room had a garden view with a cozy fireplace. The decor was very romantic and relaxing. A great sunroom was just steps from our door. Downstairs was very special from the French Provincial living room with a pool table and a lovely fireplace to sit around. Off this room were glass doors which led to a very unique pub, where you could enjoy many fine wines and beers. The quaint town of Brattlrboro was only a few blocks from the Inn,with lovely stores, shops, great restaurants and a museum. We had such fun walking and going back to a time we remembered. Tim and Amy were so gracious and helpful, we did not want to leave. This by far was the best B&B we have ever found. Richard and Karen Baggs

We had a wonderful stay at the FPR B&B in late July and wished we had planned to stay longer. The property is a lovely, French Baronial-style house in a beautiful residential section of Brattleboro. Tim and Amy have done a fabulous job on this very interesting house (both in its restoration and its furnishing), and all of their very personal touches add great warmth and personality. Our huge suite was terrific, we took advantage of the DVD library, and we slept well in the comfortable bed. The breakfast Amy fixed was incredible; the pub room featuring local brews and small pool table are neat touches; and extensive collection of local restaurant menus was very helpful. More than anything else, though, Tim's and Amy's friendliness and willingness to talk and be around their guests were features that set this place apart from many other B&B's. Thanks for giving us something unique by which to remember Brattleboro!

Our first visit to Brattleboro was made perfect by a stay at this B & B. The innkeepers were most gracious, the room was great, and we rated the breakfast the best out of the 5 B & B's we visted while on our New England vacation. We have stayed at over 60 B & B's in the United States and highly recommend staying at Forty Putney Road.

Wow, what a pleasant supprise to find this Jewel of a B&B in Brattleboro, VT.
The comendations were fantastic, from the room to the outstanding Gormet breakfast, to the great little Pub where they served great wines and beers, spinkled with great conversations.
Tim and Amy are the best host you could ever have in a B&B.
Make sure if you are going to Vermont to book your stay at this great B&B.

We were doing a tour of Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont and found Fort Putney B & B in Brattleboro. It exceeded our expectations. The place is clean and comfortable. Tim & Amy have thought of just about everything you would need. They even have their own mini-pub in the house.

It is situated in a relaxing setting just a few blocks from downtown. The walk to town is about 5 minutes. There are many hiking trails behind the property that wind around the lake there.

Next time we're in Vermont we're definitely staying at Fort Putney. Heck, we may even make that our destination just to get us there.

My fiance and I went to Brattleboro for a wedding in the beginning of September (08), and stayed at Forty Putney. We absolutely loved our stay. The house is beautiful, and Tim and Amy put a lot of thought into the design. We were both really impressed by the details you put into the place; even the fan in the room was beautiful. There was just the right amount of modern amenities, appropriately placed (the hairdryer was tucked away in a corner of the bathroom, etc.) And of course it was nice to have the organic towels and soaps, which you kind of like to see in Vermont.

The breakfast was great. Amy is a fantastic cook (and can cook per your dietary needs/restrictions). Eating outside was a real treat -- their gardens are beautiful.

The house sits along a river, and has nice walking trails which are great for an after-breakfast jaunt.

We didn't take advantage of the hot tub or the pub, but if we go back (and we would go back), we will definitely try to squeeze those in.

Best of all, Tim and Amy are great inn keepers.
