“Very Comfortable Great Food Great Views Great Hosts”
Reviewed 23 July 2009

Both Edie and Chuck make you very welcome. The rooms are very comfortable and relaxing and there is no television (what a relief - you always seem to turn it on whether you want it or not).
The views sitting by the pool are great and very relaxing on a warm summers day.

The breakfasts were varied and enjoyable and set you up for the day. There was also fruit and granola bars placed in our room every day. Soda's were avalaible in the Kitchen Fridge.

We were especially pleased with Chuck's evening dinners - Great food - pleny of it - and very reasonable prices.

The whole stay was excellent and Great Value for money.

Thank you

I just returned from a stay with my extended family at this fantastic inn. I have stayed many times before as a solo traveler and really love it. If you imagine a perfect New England inn it would look a lot like the OCI. It is as comfortable and quaint as can be. Edie and Chuck are wonderful hosts - gracious, accommodating and always upbeat. The inn is full of terrific books, board games, and puzzles, as well as plenty of comfortable furniture. The living room is the perfect place to relax with a good book. There is also plenty of outdoor space, including a beautifully situated pool. Over the years I have stayed in many of the rooms - each is different, but all are comfortable and quiet. One of the most impressive things about this inn is the cleanliness - it is immaculate! My family is comprised of neat freaks, and no one could get over how clean everything was – both the guest rooms and the common areas. Finally, I must mention the food. Chef Chuck cooks up terrific meals. Breakfasts are traditional New England fare, while dinners are generally thematic by cuisine - Italian and French Country are two of the best. The dinners are served family style, which creates a nice environment to talk with the other guests, and there is always tons of food.

The area is beautiful as well, and the inn can be a great headquarters for biking and hiking adventures. The only downside I would mention is that there is very little within walking distance - if you do decide to go out for a meal you'll probably have to drive. Otherwise, this place is pretty much perfect.

Just perfect. My boyfriend and I recently spent 2 nights at the OCI and I cannot say enough great things about it. The inn is charming, absolutely immaculate, and super cozy. The owners, Chuck and Edie, are incredibly warm and gracious, offering expert advice about the local area and serving an awesome breakfast---the homemade scones and muffins are amazing. There are goodies all over the place: warm chocolate chip cookies, tons of board games and novels, sodas and teas, etc. Our room (#8) was nice and very private--the bed is really comfortable and the bathroom was spotless. We loved it and can't wait to come back.

I recently stayed here two nights on a bike tour with my daughter. I cannot say enough positive things about this Inn! The rooms and grounds were perfectly cozy, clean and (the common areas) inspired interaction between guests. The grounds were a pleasure to sit around and enjoy a beer in - served to you in a frosty mug! We ate two dinners and two breakfasts (served family/communal style) here and both were an absolute treat. Dinners are internationally themed (we had French and Italian) but Edie, the Innkeeper and Chef, manages to let the flavor and style of Vermont come through. If you get a chance, try a massage with Rebecca of Angel's Touch who operates out of the inn - she does a great job! Finally, the source of the greatness, Innkeepers Edie and Chuck Janisse's warmth and hospitlality, is evident in every interaction with them.

The October Country Inn is a wonderful place! This was not our first B&B experience, so we are very picky, but will go back to the OCI again and again. We stayed in the first room on the first floor of the house. Cozy room, immaculate, plush linens and view of pretty perennial gardens and pool were a delight, and I couldn't get over how wonderful the pillows smelled--they must either use the best fabric softener or some type of spray on the sheets.
The breakfast was to die for, the absolute best homemade scones I've ever tasted. The pool was such a plus in rural Vermont after a long day on the golf course we came "home" and swam our cares away. The Inn is only a ten-minute (if that) drive to all types of restaurants and shopping in Woodstock and when we returned in the evening after dinner, the peaceful Inn was such a wonderful place to retreat to. It was wonderful to relax in the livingroom and enjoy a nice glass of wine together as the sun sets. The Innkeepers, Edie and Chuck are some of the friendliest, kindest people we have had the pleasure of meeting. We're without a doubt planning to return in ski season and have already suggested it to others, who loved it so much!
