Nothing like taking a walk down Church Street, regardless of the season, people watching, eating delicious food and getting some shopping done. There are some magical boutiques on the street, side streets to explore, coffee shops plenty, and the lake right nearby!

Burlington's CHurch Street Marketplace is a wonderful place to visit and walk. In warm weather, the many fine restaurants have outdoor seating. There are street musicians and performers, as well as food carts of various types. The city underground mall abuts the walkway and there is a 2-hour free parking garage. Even in winter, it is worth walking down CHurch Street for the stores, restaurants, and bars, but warmer weather is when it really thrives.

Not much to say really, great shopping, eating, people, the lake is a few blocks away, downtown Burlington is one of a kind in this country. A five college town, hi-tech companies, educated people, YES. We live here so a bit biased, but we tend to go visit every weekend for lunch, light shopping, pizza, a beer, all good.

The three blocks of the Church Street Marketplace a packed with great stores, both local and national, and many restaurants. Also check out the side streets where some of the best restaurants and shops are tucked slightly off the main pedestrian way. This heart of Burlington's downtown is busy throughout the year but very active in summer. The street is the center of action for First Night, the City's New Year's Eve celebration. There is an ice sculpture competition later in the winter. I think it's in February.

No trip to the Burlington area is complete without a trip down to Church St. Up the hill is the beautiful UVM campus, and down Main St a few blocks is Lake Champlain. In between is the pedestrian only Church St. Marketplace. Loaded with restaurants, interesting shops, including the Burlington Square Mall, this is where you come to eat and be entertained. People watching "ain't bad" either. Older and mixed age crowd during the day and early evening, definitely a younger crowd at night - doing the pubs, clubs and musical entertainment. Just off the Marketplace on the intersecting streets are many additional shops and restaurants. In all, there are a couple of city blocks that encompass the greater "Marketplace", including a Farmer's Market in City Hall Park seasonally. Definitely a family friendly area too.
