Description: August First Bakery and Cafe is locally owned and has been serving great pastries, coffee, breakfast and lunch since 2009. A true local favorite, located in a bright and open renovated industrial garage. A very Vermont experience with fresh and delicious food served by a friendly staff. Everything is made from scratch! Croissants, scones, muffins, Koiugn Amann, healthy soups and salads.

Very inspired bakery, with an excellent choice of bread, pastries and freshly prepared sandwiches/rolls.

August First is one of many Vermont establishments that focuses on creating beautiful food and baked goods that are local and use fresh and healthy ingredients. The salads are fantastic and the sandwiches are great too. They have a loyal coffee following too. The funky location only adds to the charm.

We ate breakfast here and the food was excellent. The garage style doors open up on a sunny day and there are some tables outside too. The bread was superb and the baked goods fresh and really tasty. My 8 year old loved the toasted roll with homemade raspberry jam and peanut butter!

The owners of this cafe have instituted a "no laptop" policy, which seems to have made it just as popular, or maybe even more so, to those of us who are mourning the lack of "sociable" places to go. Add to that the wonderful pastries, the delicious coffee and efficient and friendly service, and you have the perfect place for visiting with your friends and family, and enjoying the delicious food items available. It is a huge, light space, but it retains its intimacy with mismatched furniture and a big bookcase full of books (the printed type).

Perfect place to grab a cup of coffee and bake goods. Their cinnamon bun is the best cinnamon bun you will ever have in your life - I promise. They also have a wide selection of other baked goods, breakfast sandwiches, as well as fresh bread baked right in house. The jalapeño cheddar bread would have to be my favorite. Always at the top of places to visit when I am back in Burlington.
