Description: At Das Bierhaus you will find authentic German, Austrian and Swiss family recipes made with local, organic ingredients and served alongside the world's best beers! Prost! A note on our food:We have searched far and wide to bring you these traditionally inspired meals. Our dishes are homemade, using locally-sourced and produced ingredients wherever possible. They are based on authentic German, Austrian and Swiss family recipes and served with a twist of Vermont. We are dedicated to continuing old-world culinary traditions. As such, we support local farms and operate with no microwave and very limited freezer space — everything is fresh. Nothing is pre-packaged. Our food is prepared from scratch, and cooked with love.Das Bierhaus is a Chef-Owned Establishment. A note on our beer: We dedicate 100% of our draft lines to German biers. Our selection varies based on availability and seasonal variety. We constantly source new, limited, and/or up-and-coming biers from home and abroad, so there should always be something new to taste. Finally, we regularly pursue new German acquisitions and navigate the state’s regulatory system to bring them to you on tap.

“Good beer selection, great to sit on deck”
Reviewed 11 July 2014

Located on the south end of church street (beyond the 'pedestrian only' section), if the weather is nice, the rooftop garden is definitely worth a visit. They have a good beer selection (european and domestic) and a variety of sizes so you can try a few comfortably. We also had one of their soft pretzel (originally from Pennsylvania, I love a soft pretzel :) and it was the perfect 'snack'. Very filling. Very nice cheese topping. Even though we were the only table on (in?) the rooftop garden, our waitress marched up and down the stairs to take very good care of us with a smile on her face. The garden could use a face-lift, but it's more about the company, the flavors and being outside. There are trendier 'localvore' bars around church street, but I'd still recommend a stop here on a sunny day.

“Avoid Tyson”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

A wonderful place to stop in and watch some sports and drink a varied selection of German and American beers. The young woman are wonderful wait staff. Nick the owner is first-rate, but, sadly, Tyson, one of the few guys I have seen behind the bar is kind of iffy. I can say that he took home some operas I left for another patron for his daughter. In fact, he told me did. People like this you don't need running a bar. Other than Tyson the place is a must see and stop.

“A Local Favorite”
Reviewed 23 June 2014

Fun place, great food, amazing German beer selection, outstanding service. I live in town, and like coming here very much. Have dealt directly with the owner, Nick, and he's VERY dedicated to good customer service. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Sauerbraten a dinner favorite, half-priced sandwiched on Thursday make it a fun stop for lunch, and when I just want something to go with the beer but am not looking for a full meal, amazing soft pretzels (and pretzel bite sampler of several flavors and sauces to dip. Great feel on three levels (top is a rooftop deck).

Great service. Just ordered the cheese plate as well as the pretzel sampler and some delicious beers. All was a bit pricey, but good.

“A Movable Feast”
Reviewed 31 May 2014

Five of us in the family met on Friday night to have some German food. To begin with, Mitch, our son in law, got us a table on the roof, but it was too sunny for Max, our teenager. We moved down to the second floor, but the music was too loud, so we made our final move to the first floor, where we ordered and enjoyed a delicious meal, with some beer for three of us. I would consider going back another time.
