“Fantastic Trip to NY”
Reviewed 17 July 2013

I have travelled to and from VT to NY on the Ferry but this was the first year that we brought the children. They thoroughly enjoyed the ride, the views and scenery. We will do this again but next time to a different location.

“Best tourist activity in the Champlain Valley”
Reviewed 29 June 2013

I was visiting the area, did not have much time, and after going to Lake Placid for breakfast was not sure what to do, since I did not bring hiking gear. The Charlotte Essex Ferry is really the only tourist activity near Essex but well worth going out of your way for. The ride across and back for a passenger is cheap and the views are fantastic. Take a cup of coffee and a snack.
There is an inside cabin, and seats up top, but the best place to stand is down in front of the cars.
A good hat and sunglasses help. There is a parking lot on Essex across from the ferry where you can leave your car with no problem.
I did not check the head, but there is one. Staff are nice.

“always wanted to do this”
Reviewed 24 June 2013

My wife and I combined the ferry with a day trip to Ausable Chasm while visiting the Burlington area. The boat we took to the New York side of the lake had an open deck (which was great because it was a beautiful morning) with a snack bar, gift shop, and restrooms below the deck. The return trip was on a different boat - cars were enclosed, with an observation deck above with all of the aforementioned amenities. $38 each way for the two of us and our vehicle, which was pretty reasonable for an hour-long trip across a beautiful lake. On the Vermont side, get to the dock 20-25 minutes ahead of schedule (in June, anyway). There were three times as many cars leaving Burlington as there were on the return trip. All in all, a fun experience, and something you don't get to do every day.

“Wonderful ferry ride from Charlotte, VT to Essex, NY!”
Reviewed 15 June 2013

We loved this ferry trip from Charlotte, VT to Essex, NY. We parked in the lot in Charlotte and rode it back and forth as a tourist activity. We didn't stay in Essex, and instead turned right around and came back on the return ferry and it was wonderful. The sky was blue, it was cold, windy and choppy and it was a fantastic way to see Lake Champlain. This is a fun and inexpensive activity if you don't get seasick.

“Our grandson was just trilled with the ride”
Reviewed 26 January 2013

It was not expected as the biggest most exciting part of our weekend away with our grandson, but for him, it was the highlight of the trip.

We did the ride heading over to the Ausable Chasm, which he did enjoy a lot, it's just not a Big Boat ride:)
