Hotel Vermont impressed from the moment we entered the lobby. The decor's wood and textured granite create a rustic local-Vermont feel, and cozy seating around the fireplace attracted us right away. Tim Weaver checked us in, and couldn't have been more helpful, getting us a reservation on short notice at Hen of the Wood next door. All the staff were kind and everything we needed was on hand. Tim offered us umbrellas on the way out the door while it was raining, and he and Matt Canning can make it happen if you are a beer aficionado. On their recommendation, we had breakfast at Magnolia, walking distance away and sensitive to our gluten-free diet.

The room was spectacular, with a view of the lake and the local amenities and small touches that separate boutique from chain hotels. Everything in the room was from Vermont and high quality, from the toiletries to the blanket to the furniture. Local sweets served on locally made cutting boards arrived on the house, as the staff knew this was a stop on our honeymoon tour. There was free coffee, tea, hot chocolate, apples, still and sparkling water right off each elevator, all of which I sampled during our stay. My wife received an excellent shiatsu massage from Lisa, which took our recent travel miles right out of her muscles. The room's walk-in shower and jacuzzi tub were striking, and we could have stayed in bed all day (it was so comfortable).

Hen of the Wood is probably the best restaurant I have had the pleasure of attending. I don't say that lightly, but the menu was relentlessly good, with nothing less than world-class. You absolutely must have the thin red line cheese, but really, there's no going wrong at Hen. We had nearly everything on the menu and Jess and Jordan took great care of us, knowing we had come over from Hotel Vermont.

Overall, I can't imagine a better trip. My wife and I were so pleased, so relaxed, so grateful to Hotel Vermont and all their staff for making our stay pure luxury.

We'll be back. Thanks again, Tim!

Room Tip: We stayed in 409, which had a lovely view of the lake.

This is a great hotel! Very nice rooms, comfy beds, great customer service. Love the Vermont items in the room (blanket, soap, etc.) And really loved the handy beverage station down the hall from my room. The shower was the best hotel shower I've ever seen and the room was spotless.

My sister, a friend, and I were looking to explore Vermont and found Hotel Vermont to be a great home base. The hotel was just as described on the website, modern and rustic, all in one. Very luxurious to balance out all the hiking and outdoor activities. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, also listened closely and remembered what we had said our itinerary was for the day and asked how things went, very personalized touch. They kindly sent up a champagne bottle and personalized card when I mentioned it was my sister's birthday. The rooms are very comfortable, great bath products. Our top floor room had a nice view of Lake Champlain, though it's a bit obscured by some of the buildings... would recommend going out on the lower terrace for better views and sunset pics. The nightly "treats" were delicious. And the restaurant, Juniper, downstairs was delicious and convenient. We were within an hour of Camel's Hump Park (took the Barrow's trail, great moderate level high with great views of the great mountain), 30 mins of the Ben and Jerry's factory (yum). Also highly recommend Magnolia's for breakfast. The weather was a bit rainy, otherwise would have loved to have taken the complimentary bikes (and helmets) for a spin along the Lake Champlain trails. Highly recommend and will plan on bringing my boyfriend here for a romantic getaway!

This is a very nice hotel that has many thoughtful features like the Vermont made wool blanket, the free bike rentals, the canteen area with water, Keurig machine, and apples, that the chain hotels do not offer. The rooms themselves are unique in furnishings and neat touches. Their overall layout is a bit odd but overall very nice. And most importantly the staff was extremely attentive in a very genuine way.

Great vibe at this cool modern hotel with a great lobby area that includes a hip bar and outdoor seating. Good location in downtown Burlington. Breakfast at the restaurant was good. They source mostly local ingredients. There was a jazz trio playing in the evening in the lobby and the bar was full. Do not miss The Hen of the Wood restaurant right next door. It is spectacular!

Room Tip: Ask for high floors with view of Lake Champlain.

My family went to Burlington for my niece's graduation from the University of Vermont and we stayed at Hotel Vermont. It's in a great location - easy walking distance to both the lake and Church Street. The rooms and beds are very comfortable and pretty quiet as far as hotels go. We ate in the restaurant for breakfast both mornings - the food was good and reasonably priced. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. At one point, my husband lost his jacket. One of the valets took him to the car to see if he left it there. The following day, he remembered us and asked if we ever found it. I was impressed that he remembered. (We found the jacket - one of our family members took it to her room.) We enjoyed our stay there and I highly recommend it.

Room Tip: We stayed in a room with 1 queen and 1 double bed. It was much larger and less crowded feeling than...

Service was impeccable from the start at every level, they practically ran everywhere to make sure that you had what you wanted. Several funky features like bicycles to use around Burlington which we took for a glorious ride. A lot of thought over small things like the coffee/tea stations on each floor (with very good tea) and minimalist and elegant style throughout and very strong focus on eco-friendly. But design issues: rooms small, no bedside lights (only over bed-difficult if one wants to read and not the other), no light at desk, no table next to chair etc, cupboard did not take long dresses, no chest of drawers. And as it was graduation weekend very expensive indeed.

Thank you for staying with us and for your kind review.

Some of our rooms are on the smaller side indeed, but gladly the majority of the rooms offer over 300 square feet of space. Your comments are well taken. I would like to learn more about the desk light issue since all desks do offer a light and I am very sorry that the room you stayed in was missing this light, our sincerest apologies.

Thanks to your comments and those received by some of our other guests we will be adding hooks in each bedroom to accommodate long dresses; thank you for letting us know.

You mentioned our tea: we are so fortunate to work with so many wonderful Vermont partners, such as Vermont Artisan Coffee and Tea Company from Waterbury who provides our tea for the pantries on our guestroom floors and Dobra Tea from Burlington for the loose leaf tea served in Juniper, our bar and restaurant. These companies are just an example of the wealth of resources available in Vermont and we love exploring these great products together with our guests.

Hope to see you back soon.
