Description: Juniper is Hotel Vermont's local, ingredient-driven cocktail bar. Created by Executive Chef Doug Paine, Juniper's menu is a celebration of individual and community effort, of small local producers growing and raising food, brewing beer, distilling spirits, and making wine. Check out the local live music scene and the custom cocktails made with Vermont spirits, as well as the outdoor terrace overlooking Lake Champlain with a cozy working fire pit.

Juniper is located in the lobby of the Hotel Vermont. There is a lovely fireplace and a sitting area beside it. The space is open and airy. There is a large bar area with a communal table. Beside it diners can sit at tables of two, four or larger.

What impressed me about Juniper is that it appeared very democratic. It attracts a wide array of customers. The fancy dressers from urban centres, locals in plaid shirts and jeans, guests at the hotel, local hipsters, guys in town for a convention, young couples on a date. I really liked the mix.

As mentioned it can satisfy your many needs. Just want a beer or cocktail: check. Maybe a coffee and small snack: check. A few appetizers and craft beer: check. A full curse meal with a nice bottle of California wine: check.

We were here for the full meal. A salad with blue cheese and greens followed by mains of sweet potato and assorted veg plus a sandwich. All were nicely presented, simple and flavourful.

Our server was laid back but helpful and friendly. Noise level a bit high as it was Saturday night but everyone was enjoying themselves.

Bottom line: no matter who you are or what you are looking for, Juniper will likely make you happy.

We always have breakfast here when we stay at Hotel Vermont. It's very tasty, hearty, lovely staff. Dinner gets packed and manic so book a table ahead of your visit or try to get a seat at the bar.

We were a group of 9 on busy weekend in Burlington and Juniper fit us in. There was live music in lobby of hotel and the baseball game on in the bar so it was a lively night. Fun singing and eating and cheering on the Red Sox. Food was very good.

We had dinner at the Juniper Bar & Restaurant during a recent stay in Burlington. It is located on the ground floor of the Vermont Hotel in the downtown Burlington area.
We arrived on time for our reservations and were promptly seated in the relatively small dinning area. There was a full bar, and a patio area outside as well. The modern decor and ambiance were quite inviting...

Soon our young waiter Jonah appeared to take care of us. We ordered a bottle of wine--a cab--from the Aviary Vineyards, which was excellent. We also ordered a Local Green Salad and the Roasted Squash Consommé from the "Small Plates" menu as starters. The Consommé was quite interesting and delicious.

For dinner we ordered off the "Large Plates" menu. I had the Turkey & Dumplings while my partner had the Starbird Salmon. The Turkey & Dumplings was quite tasty but I felt that it was too many dumplings and not enough turkey. My partner seemed to enjoy her salmon entree but as always she had some leftovers to take home.

Jonah was quite friendly and personable. We were wondering why there was sooo much bumper-to-bumper traffic in Burlington this weekend and were informed that we happened to be in town for the busiest weekend of the year. There were several University functions going on as fell as peaking fall foliage, which brought a lot of people to town. Nice to know that traffic wasn't always so heavy in Burlington.

Overall it was an enjoyable dining experience and we would probably go back the next time we find ourselves in Burlington, if not for the food then definitely for the Aviary Cabernet. Can't seem to find that wine back in our home town area...

My family and I enjoyed dinner at this restaurant in Hotel Vermont. Most of the food is locally sourced and delicious. The leek and mushroom tart is small, but tasty, and makes a good appetizer, but not enough for an entree. I additionally ordered the herbed fries, which was a huge portion, and the local greens salad, which was very fresh and delicous. My son had the chevre gnocchi with turkey and sweet potato, a wonderfully savory entree. My daughter enjoyed the buttermilk fried chicken with the honey mustard dip and mac n' cheese very much. We were very happy with the quality of the food, and the service was good, although the waiter tended to chat a lot with the other customers, to the detriment of those of us who needed his attention.
For dessert we shared the amazing maple cake with chocolate ganache, made at a local bakery. It was incredibly delicious, and I highly recommend this dessert option.
I would definitely return to this restaurant, despite the limited menu. Make reservations if you want to go.
We also enjoyed brunch here the following morning, including the blueberry pancakes, as well as the scrambled eggs, bacon and hash browns. Wonderful!
