We want last week, so on a cold weekend. We booked and got view of Lake Champlain. Service was excellent, and the valet parking a great deal. It was a convenient place to stay for the wedding we attended, and close to shopping, which can be especially useful if you find out you need a pair of gloves or socks.

We only ate breakfast here, but it was excellent standard fare (pancakes, sausage etc.). The toast was a meal in itself.

So why not 5 stars? Surprisingly, the bathroom was very modern but a poor design (good quality, just a bad idea. The shower stall ended up letting water drip onto the main floor. And the "spa" style bathtub was an awkward thing.

But... service was delivered with a smile. So when I think of Burlington, I smile to myself.

Room Tip: Ask for upper floors, and view of the lake.

Parking can be time consuming in Burlington, especially on the weekends, so that's why we went with the Marriott (one of the 2 hotels within walking distance to everything downtown). We could walk to all restaurants and bars without having to see our car until we left.

We requested a top floor and we were granted a top floor room when we arrived, which provided an awesome view of the city and water. The jetted tub was awesome and there was a wooden window in the bathroom that you could open to view the 42"+ TV from the jetted tub. Genius.

One of two "downtown" Burlington hotels with spectacular views of Lake Champlain. (I also like the other - the Hilton next door, which was formerly a Wyndham. They're both nice. Shop price -- but insist on lake views). Typical Marriott cheery staff. Typical Courtyard set up and amenities. Be sure you have a lake view - you may have to pay more or select a higher category but it's worth it. As others have said, it is steps away from the harbor/marina/Church Street pedestrian mall. Park the car and walk everywhere!

Room Tip: Be sure you are facing the lake. High floor is better but not critical.

We were in Burlington for a college visit to UVM. It was a crowded weekend due to being Pres Day, so the restaurants that had been recommended all had 1 hour waits. Frustrating! Worse was the suite we got at the Marriott Courtyard. The view was not of beautiful Lake Champlain, nor a courtyard as advertised...but a parking garage! As far as we could tell from much shopping around for a good place to stay, this is the nicest hotel in town. It was ok. We enjoyed Burlington and UVM and a day of skiing at Stowe. Plan ahead for restaurants and don't expect any 3.4 or definitely any 5 star hotels here. :(

We chose the Marriott after consulting trip advisor and seeing that it had a good rating and reviews. It was a birthday celebration weekend and we splurged at $225 a night for a 1 bedroom suite with sofabed. There was an antiquated heating system in the room that rumbled on and off the entire night (similar to those old air conditioning units that charge on and off). The next morning I asked the hotel desk person if all the rooms had the same heating system because we couldn't sleep with all the racket. She said she would send up a "technician" to investigate the problem. We returned late that evening to the same problem. For the price paid for the room, I feel cheated. And what's up with the "barrista" coffee in the room? Vermont is getting a reputation for super coffee, why not put some in the room instead of the flavorless sludge? Again, don't go for the 1 bedroom suite if you want to sleep
