The Pointe at Castle Hill Resort and Spa in like the poor step-sister to the Castle in this Okemo Valley resort. However, The Pointe is all about value. I took advantage of a leaf-peepin' deal that they had: $85 weeknight and you get back $75 in vouchers. It didn't pay to stay home. The room was gigantic but faced the parking lot and since you are directly on busy Route 103, there is a lot of noise to deal with. I suggest asking for a 2nd floor room at back of hotel and then you should be fine. Overall, I would stay here again and would definitely enjoy another spa treatment but unless you are a skier there is absolutely nothing to do in Ludlow, Vt.

We, too, got the internet special. The room was large and somewhat comfortable. The bathroom looked as though it was the original and in much need of updating. The entire building had the "old" smell as well as old and original appearance. At both check-in and check-out we felt like we were interupting the clerk (different ones) who were on lengthy phone calls. As a previous reviewer wrote, the $25 incentive for the spa wasn't much of an incentive. Having had a larger than normal late lunch, we opted not to visit the restaurant at the Castle Resort and to use that $25 incentive. However, we drove to Ludlow looking for a place to get a lighter meal. We ended up at the Bella Luna Restaurant. The atmosphere was wonderful, like dining in an Italian outdoor courtyard. We enjoyed a very nice meal and received friendly service.

When we made reservations for this hotel we looked at the pictures of the rooms, and when we got there the actual room had no resemblance of the pictures. Our room was facing the parking lot which is 50 feet away from a major highway (103), there was a lot of noise of trucks and cars passing by all the time (very hard to sleep). When we were greeted at the front desk the words that came out of the front desk employee was, "name please" after provided the name and next thing she said was I need your credit card. There was no greeting, like good afternoon, welcome and or how are you, strictly business :-(. When they made their reservations online we received an offer of $25.00 voucher for dinner, this voucher is only good if you spend $100 or more for dinner of two people. We all still receive the voucher of $25.00 towards spa treatment which was a ridiculous price starting at $180 for 50 minutes.
4 hours after we arrived my wife decided to call the front desk and complain about the room and Alek has no resemblance to the pictures that we have seen they offered us to upgrade and add $250 per night, my wife asked to speak to a manager and we were refused by the front desk. In the evening I approached the front desk and asked them to have the manager contact us the following day up to now we have not heard from any manager. If you do decide to make reservations at this hotel make sure you understand exactly what you're getting before you pay. One more thing if you need wife like connection in your room please remember that you will have to pay for it separately, it is not included.

I stayed for five days with my wife, mother and college aged daughter and we had a very enjoyable experience. The most direct cause of the enjoyable stay was the excellent staff, who were attentive and helpful in all areas -- front desk, housekeeping, restaurant and spa. When we requested information, an additional towel, etc., staff personnel dropped what they were doing to respond immediately and appropriately. I was very impressed.

The hotel is located in an easy-to-find location, and the location provides good access to surrounding points of interest -- Okemo Ski Resort, Woodstock, Plymouth, etc.

The rooms are quite spacious, although the bathroom is small with little surface and storage space for toiletries. Nothing luxurious, but comfortable with adequate lighting, a desk and lounge chair, and flat screen television. There is free wireless internet service in the lobby, but there is a fee for internet in the rooms. The one exception to the "not luxurious" comment is that residents of The Pointe have access to the Castle Hill Spa. My family and I took advantage of this on several occasions. The outdoor pool is kept slightly warmer than most, but comfortable for swimming. The hot tub is located just adjacent to the pool and, most importantly, both are up a hill from the road, commanding a beautiful view of the surrounding hills. The spa is only open 8 am to 8 pm, however, which limits usage.

An internet special rate made our stay an excellent value, enhanced by the hotel manager's willingness to include a free breakfast at the Castle Hill Hotel. This hotel is affiliated with The Pointe, but is a separate hotel with hiagher rates to go along with greater luxury. The breakfast is a simple, continental one, but the setting of the Castle Hill "parlor" and the helpful service made for a relaxing morning, following our visit to the spa.

In summary, I recommend this hotel and would stay again. However, the full rate is higher than I would like to pay for this level of property and the value is good only if using a reduced rate.

Triple AAA booked this hotel for us and they were told by staff the hotel had a roll-in shower. My husband called twice and confirmed our reservation and that they in fact had a roll-in shower as this is a critical need for us. One of us is in a wheelchair and needed accessible accommodations. When we arrived, we discovered that they did not have ANY roll-in showers; not even a hand-held shower head in the entire "resort". When we asked about a room with a shower, they told us there was a 4-5 inch threshold at the entrance to the shower. In other words - we were stuck with the reality that one of us might not be able to bathe for our three-day weekend revolving around a WEDDING. We eventually backed the wheelchair up to the jacuzzi for a shampoo with a bucket and did a hospital-type sponge bath. The tub/jacuzzi/shower (the shower was in the tub) involved climbing over a +25" wall that was 9" wide - a fairly olympic event for anyone let alone those with mobility problems or stiff muscles. Basically, we were lied to.

The sinks were not wheelchair accessible in our accessible room. The only features I could see that were accessible were the handrails in the bathrrom and the visual smoke detector, as well as a lowered peephole in the door.

The location IS on a very noisy road with lots of speeding vehicles in the middle of nowhere, as noted in other reviews. Thinking you might get a cab there is crazy when you see the town. There is nothing to do unless you ski. We traveled 1-2 hours each day for recreation and activities elsewhere; wanting to stay close to the wedding location.

There were two small bars of soap and 2-3 plastic cups when we arrived, but apparently that's all you get for your entire stay because we never received any more. I didn't mind not having the linens changed for the sake of the environment, but the washcloths, when wet for use created lots of bubbly soap suds in the sink, leading me to think they were not rinsed well.

The room was pretty and clean but that's it. The staff was not friendly but perhaps they were aware we were not happy about being lied to and kept their distance.

The restaurant was not open when we were there so we had to search Ludlow for an accessible restaurant. We found "Sam's" who also has an Italian sister-restaurant next door. (Good food, friendly staff. ) For breakfast, nothing was accessible. We bought bagels and coffee and ate in the car. Then we went to the local grocery store for cereal and milk for the next morning.

This area is in the country. There are lots of old buildings and old houses and little activity. Vermont is picturesque with its old barns and winding mountain roads, and the residents seem friendly, but we will not be going back to this area and never to The Pointe at Castle Hill - not as it seemed in the photos online at all.

I stayed the the Pointe at Castle Hill with my girlfriend, family and a very large group of people for a wedding on the weekend of July 17th-18th. We all arrived later in the evening as VT is a long drive from Boston after Northbound Boston traffic. The entire wedding party (great friends of ours from back home in VT) had rented out a bar in town. When our small group arrived all we wanted to do was meet up with the party in ludlow. As we anxiously awaited a cab we were growing more and more restless to the point of annoyed frustration. We kept coming back into the front desk to ask where our ride was as they worked the phones for us to find an answer. As we were getting to the point of tossing our hands into the air and just writing off the night and looking forward to the next day an employee by the name of "Sunshine" was leaving after a long day of work. She walked by our anxious crowd and asked what the problem was. We told her and she didn't even hesitate to ask us if we wanted a ride to the bar! She apologized for the appearance of her car, which was about immaculate inside I might add, and told us to hop in. She took us right to the bar and even put up with our obnoxious banter on the ride over....She saved the day for us and we can't say thanks enough! What a phenomenal employee. If only everyone was that generous and thoughtful to their clientele. I will come back to this hotel for that reason alone. It didn't hurt that the hotel itself provided a great experience as well.

We spent last Monday through Friday at the Pointe and very much enjoyed the property. Although located on a main road, the hotel was quiet and relaxing. The staff was as nice as could be and very helpful. The room was well appointed and very clean and housekeeping did a great job each day to keep it that way. Both the indoor and outdoor pools and hot tubs were wonderful ways to relax and unwind after a day exploring Vermont. The location served as a nice base for trips to Burlington, Killington and the Quechee Valley. We would highly recommend staying here and would come back in the future if we're in the area again. I would have liked an in-room guide to the hotel's services however, as we were not aware of the internet available in the room for a fee.
