I need a 3.5 Rating, above Average but not quite Very Good. We love staying at B&Bs and try a couple of different ones each year. To break it down:
Great: Location was excellent, 10 minutes from Shelburne Farms, so convenient when we were done with the Cheese Festival. A short walk from Mt Philo, which was a great hike, as challenging as you wanted it to be and stunning views! Breakfast was very good, different but not so out of the norm that most people wouldn't like it, fresh and filling. A guest asked where they go their produce, we all expected to hear a local farm and he named off a local grocery store. Again, not quite what we've had in other B&Bs
Very Good: Master room was very roomy and extremely clean, and right outside the pool, which was also clean and had convenient seats under and arbor
Not so good: Walls are like paper, with rooms surrounding pool and thin walls, really felt more like a motel with a friendly breakfast than a B&B. We could hear every word of the people next door as they chatted at night, so didn't make us feel like we had any real privacy. On the other side of us was the hallway and kitchen and there was alot of banging around of doors throughout the day. Also was a little disconcerted when our bag was moved from where I had left it, and clothes that I had sorted out was all stacked on top. I recognize the cleaner has to clean but Ive never had one move all my stuff around.
First day there, relatives of owners were there with four kids in the pool for hours, teasing one of them quite a bit, to the point where I almost said something but he finally went to get his mother. Again, room is right next to pool, so very noisy in our room as they played or fought.
The room is advertised as shower only, which is correct, except that there is a bathtub, just with pieces removed. I would think that would either be fixed or removed.
Overall, nice visit, but even with great location do not feel that the cost was justified.
