“Like Going Home Again!”
Reviewed 29 September 2012

We returned to the Hugging Bear Inn after a couple visits over 20 years ago. It is still a wonderful quaint bed & breakfast in a lovely little town. Georgette, the innkeeper for all these years, greeted us with a smile and hug. Little has changed in all these years. They are a family friendly hotel, although we were visiting for our 25th anniversary. There are various rooms to choose from each with different types of bed choices all with teddy bears. We were in the Tower Room which is small but charming with a private small bath. The breakfasts were delicious – Georgette is a wonderful cook – we love her apple pancakes. She is very knowledgeable about the area and was able to give recommendations of places to shop and eat. We enjoyed the inn and teddy bear shop attached. There is also an art gallery in the carriage house. We enjoyed meeting Laura, Scott and Fiona – Georgette’s family and innkeepers as well, or in Fiona’s case, Jr. Innkeeper and greeter. Chester is a lovely town and is only 30 minutes or so from Manchester where we spent a day shopping as well. Visiting the Hugging Bear is like going home. I’m sure we will be back again.

In my opinion, you can't beat the hospitality, wonderful breakfast, and the fact that the owners are real people! I felt instantly, that I could make myself at home....and I did! Georgette and her family make you part of their family within moments of your arrival. Already booked for next year!! I can't wait. Wonderful people make the world a much better place!....at the Hugging Bear, the owner truly cares and makes your get-away the BEST! Thank You Georgette, and your family, for a wonderful 3 nights!
Tip: You might want to visit the Art gallery on site.....amazing talent in this family! I also found the Teddy Bear shop to be a must see! I HAD to bring a few of the bears home! What a delightful shop. L.H from MA

I have stayed @H.B. inn at least 5 times and always had a great time.

Bears, jewlery, and stuffed animals of all kinds. If you can't find it... You don't need it!

Hospitality always the BEST! Georgette will always help you find what you need...even if it is just a chat late in the evening! She will always have a place in my heart.

We stayed here for one night during the week because of it's very decent price. $110 plus tax for one night. Other B&B's around the area were much more expensive. Also its only about 20 minutes to Stratton Ski resort which is where we were headed the next day. We stayed in the pooh and piglet's room. Nice spacious room with a full bed and a single bed. Enough room for 2 people and a third if need be. They have pictures of all their rooms on the website which is helpful. My only gripe in the room was that the bathroom was really small. Only one person can fit at a time and the sink was located outside the bathroom which was kind of odd. Also they didn't have a TV in the room. They do have a common area with a small TV for all the guests to use but if someone else is using it your pretty much stuck on watching what they're watching. Although they do offer free WIFI which we did make use of. The inn itself was very quaint. I liked the fact that the innkeeper Georgette was very nice, helpful, and courteous. The breakfast was great and made to order. Options included pancakes, french toast, eggs. A plus also with the inn was that there was tea, coffee, hot chocolate left outside which you can make and help yourself anytime. Also available was a fridge, microwave, cold and hot cereal, and fruits also out for your convenience. All in all a good experience.

My husband and I have been going to the Hugging Bear Inn for approximately 4 years, for a total of about 10 stays. While there are several B&Bs to choose from in the area, we always head back to HBI! Inn-keeper Georgette is delightful and could not be any more hospitable. She really makes sure you enjoy your stay. While it is family oriented (there's a bear shoppe!), we do not have children and still love being there surrounded by the bears in and out of the rooms. Super quaint, great breakfast, can't wait to stay again!
