We found this little B&B while searching for dog friendly places to stay in or near Burke. We have been coming up to Burke a couple times a year since we discovered the Kingdom trails a few years ago. This was our second trip up this year after staying further from town we really wanted to be in East Burke so we could enjoy the village and not spend time driving back and forth. We have stayed at a couple of the other locations in the area as well but didn't want to pay high prices just for the opportunity to leave the dog behind for a few hours while we were on the trail.
We were in with another couple so we had rented both rooms for a weekend stay. We arrived on a rainy Friday afternoon to the smell of fresh donuts, were greeted, given a very brief run down before we went out. We woke to the amazing smell of the bakery, and a great breakfast. We had the place to ourselves most of the weekend and really appreciated walking to town, the country store and a nice dinner on Saturday evening. Rooms were small but adequate, beds were high quality, there was a great back yard, a nice covered porch to sit on and watch people pass by. The location is the best in Burke if you really want to enjoy the town and community while you are there. The bakery is well known, and everyone we talked to had a favorite that we "must try". I was a little hesitant staying in such a small B&B (my first time) but couldn't pass on the location and price. By mid day Saturday both couples agreed that we enjoyed this over our previous stay in one of the bigger trail side Inns, and would happily stay here again. Dunagin was a great and tolerant host to our young dog, and Holly was even better. By the time we left I wasn't sure if we should say bye or give her a hug. We were even given a treat to take home with us. We will certainly stay here again in the future and would recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable place to sleep and spend some time.
