From the first moment you see this place til the last moment you drive away you will be impressed by the level of service and attention to detail. The front porch is filled to the brim with beautiful baskets of flowers. The entry and dining rooms are sparkling clean and well-decorated.
The food is American and Greek but all delicious. I had Cod with a Mediterranean flair while my husband had the pork special, both excellent. This place has a team of waitstaff who all help each other out so the service is very attentive.
Who else serves crackers and relish AND bread and butter? Who served warm towels after dinner?? This place is special, yet not terribly expensive.
We don't live in the area, but if we did this would be our go-to dinner spot!

Fair Haven is a charming, little town a few short miles from the western, New York border and the Fair Haven Inn has been an intrinsic part of the town for almost 40 years. We had reservations (a wise choice) for 7pm on a Saturday night in early February and when we arrived, despite the falling snow, the place was packed. We were greeted warmly and waited about 10 minutes before being seated. From the appetizers to the last bite of the entrees (too full for dessert) the four of us really enjoyed our meals. The warm bread provided was wonderful, my oysters were truly succulent and my porterhouse steak was cooked to medium-rare perfection. However, there were a few clitches. Although the servers were accommodating, the service itself was slow and inefficient. At least 5 different servers appeared at our table each with a different role resulting in confusion. At one point at least 30 minutes passed between finishing our salads and the arrival of our entrees and we sat there the entire time with the dirty dishes in front of us. When I finally asked the hostess if they could be removed, her (rather unpleasant) response was that they would be removed when our entrees arrived. Totally unacceptable in any venue and unfortunately, when it was time to leave, it took three attempts to get our check correct. All in all we had a pleasant dining experience but the Inn's management really needs to work on the service aspect.

We arrived in town around dinner time. By the time we checked in to The Marble Mansion and were settled in our room, it was early evening. Greg at the inn highly recommended the Fair Haven Inn - a plus being we could walk there on a gorgeous night. The atmosphere was warm and very homey. The menu was more extensive than we ever would have thought in a small town, and the service was wonderful. We enjoyed the French Onion soup, the sampler platter of oysters (or was it clams?), baked fish, and crab cakes. Desserts looked yummy, but after such a dinner, we will have to wait till next time!
