My family of 4 just got back from our first ever Family Camp experience. After asking around, we decided to try out Ohana Family Camp, which is just over 2 hours drive from Boston. We have a 4 and 2 year old. In short: as we left, we managed our sadness that camp is over by vowing to come back next year. The food was excellent, and my husband is a picky vegetarian who will not eat tofu. Even though meals are buffet style, the food preparation is consistent with a nice restaurant. The cabins are rustic, but spacious. Always hot water, and though yes, buggy as you would expect in a VT cabin, the cabins have an open rustic (not creepy) feel. The grounds are beautiful and constantly maintained. Lovely flowers, expansive rolling fields, and the view of the lake and mountains beyond was a perfect backdrop for all of our activities. We tried out archery, watercolors, ropes course, pottery... and the kids loved the kid activity staff who kept them entertained building forts in the woods, looking for art materials in the woods (pine cones, twigs, leaves), singing songs, and other crafts. (Every morning you get to choose 2 activities from about 20 activities offered, and then spend the afternoon swimming and playing as you choose.) It's a small enough camp to have a personal feel, but large enough that there were many interesting people to meet, and you also can go off on your own without feeling pressured to stay with a group. We took an afternoon off to do a nearby hike, and its nice to have that freedom, too. You can keep to yourself, or, get to know new friends. My kids are young, so I asked some older kids (including teens) what they thought of camp, and everything I heard was positive. Evening activities included an amazing marionette show, live music, camp games, and a camp fire. I hope that our family will be lucky enough to make this an annual summer trip!

Room Tip: The people we met who stayed in the tents said its a great way to go, but we were happy in our cabin.

Ohana is the perfect place to have a wedding. Our family and friends came to ether for the whole weekend at Ohana. Many stayed at the camp and the others staying in nearby Hanover, NH. Spending the whole Labor Day weekend allowed us to visit and enjoy each other's company and take advantage of the beautiful facilities that Ohana has to offer. The camp catered the delicious Rehearsal dinner BBQ buffet followed by s'mores! Following the wedding we had a lovely sit down dinner catered by a local caterer. If you are looking for a beautiful place to have a wedding, check out Ohana!

Ohana Family Camp is a wonderful gathering place for all generations. I took my great neice, age 8, who loved the experience as much as I did. We stayed in a very comfortable tent with great beds! There were numerous activites of all sorts for families to do together or separately. The food was outstanding, very healthy and nutritious. The waterfront is loaded with swimming, canoeing, kyaking equipment. The evening activities varied from dancing, storytelling, singing, etc. The staff was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. We highly recommend this place.

Room Tip: There are rustic tents and cabins but comfortable. Just have to like spiders and bugs!
